Another Model, a monster head from a concept by http://www.pde.deviantart.com/ for another school assignment. 2 days work.
Map size: 2048 Color, Spec, Normal.

Kirgan, its not bad at all, but I think your bump/normal could be pushed a lot further. A lot of it looks really smooth. A 2048² map seems pretty generous for just a creatures head, so you should really squeeze all you can get out of it, all the subtle little bumpy details. I really like what you did in around the, eye that's really nice. The color map's really nice as well.
Topology looks pretty good, there's a few places that it looks a little dense in contrast to others, like the top of the head compared to the neck, but generally its pretty sound.
I'm wondering why you didn't model the mouth so it could open tho?

I agree with you on the things you mentioned.
Lowered the maps to 1024 and they looked nearly the same. So a 2048 should be enough for the whole model (if I do it) :).
Didn't have time for the open mouth. 2 days assignment and I wanted to practice more on the texture part.
Here is the model with the 1024 map
PS. the specular settings need some tweaking on this one.
