ok heres a bench
anyway herer tis,
just thought i could get some feedback on my texture work, this is one of my first mapped texture attempts,, game textures are alot easier than materials,.. its for one diffuse and one bump and renderd in brazil with only the skylight
i would tell you the polycount but my version of max just screwed up then, otherwise i would have a much nicer render for you aswell..

Fabolous work! Those textures are of top game quality.

great stuff, just one thing, you've made all corners lighter, more worn, but the corners under the bench shouldn't be that worn and the top of it should also be lighter, people have used to sit, right

U'r making the game objects for Dungeon Siege 2?
It looks really GREAT!
Teach me how to do it! 3000$ would be enough ?:D

wow, thanks for all the wonderfull comment everyone
bjotto - the top is slightly lighter than the bottom which is coverd with soot and stuff =P, still could be lighter tho if its not noticable. and ive corrected the lightness of the bottom edjes so they dont look as silly , =P
i will, when i install max again cause it screwed itself up, post the differences between texture res's
i can get away with 256x256 without much of a problem 128 looks very bad, and 512x512 doesnt look much differernt than 1024x1024
so i think ingame this piece would use the 256x256 texture and possibly the 512x512, although just for a bench i feel that to be wastefull use of resources
04-05-2003, 07:33 AM
ok, from left to right
and texture has been changed slightly
256 is best
04-05-2003, 11:53 AM
Well, i dunno but prefer that 512x one.
Looking good anyways.
04-05-2003, 08:42 PM
512 is most detailed. 256 is starting to blur..and 128..well...do i need to say anything????! :D
Who like my new avatar :D
05-05-2003, 02:40 AM
heres the second piece of the set
i think i will do a small stool and a large stool, mabe some chairas and a different table aswell
05-05-2003, 02:42 AM
looks great TyK! you've really got some good texturing and modelling skills there! Well done :D
05-05-2003, 04:22 AM
whats funny is that max crashed on my pc acuse i deleted all my temp files, which contained my licence files =P
so i loaded up lightwave and made the table with that, took me ages to learn the basics,
luckily for me i have 2 pc's here, and when i was done with the basic shape in lightwave i exported it and imported into max finished up the model and textured it,
heres the maps, just cause i know people will appreciate it,
there really simple ones, and the wood is derived from a scan of some balsa wood ;o)

of the same make and stuff,
havent yet done the texture for this one yet, i have to map the text cords, oh yay..!!!
note the sarcasm,
06-05-2003, 05:05 AM
ok just for referance this is how long it takes me to map the texture coordinates fo that table
the time between the last post and this one
06-05-2003, 05:50 AM
and now the texture has been painted
ill post a render once its finished
breakfast time,,... its 3:16 pm here hehe =P

11-05-2003, 05:36 PM
Thats realy good work! I have a question, where did you learn how to use character studio? I need to learn to animate in max, and I can't get myself started. Its all too complicated. Maya is much eisier for me. But thats because of some video tutorials I have.
12-05-2003, 02:40 AM
i ahvent really learned much about charecter studio, ive done a swim cycle and a walk cycle, and a sitting down animation before but not much else.
the standard tutorials that come with max is where i leanr my info, they explain heaps of stuff,
i need to learn maya, i downloaded a video tut the otehr day and it was good,..
