Speed Painting Challenge no. 83
Topic: Peace and Quiet
Idea: We all need some peace and quiet every now and then. But what does that mean to you. Is it a family vacation, or is it sitting on the beach, alone, watching the waves come in. Take your idea of what peace and quiet is and show it to the world.
Deadline: 11:59 pm (GMT) Sunday November 17th (use the time zone thread to make sure your done in time)
Prizes: (must be at least 6 entries)
Winner gets to choose one of the following options:
- 6-month subscription to the 2DCreative magazine
- 6-month subscription to the 3DCreative magazine
Rules:
-Any medium is allowed, as long as it can be put into digital form - scanned, photographed, etc.
- Since it's a speed painting, it should be finished in the smallest amount of time possible, but if you paint a whole day, you won't get disqualified . But for example, 4 days is too much
- IF YOU PAINT MULTIPLE ENTRIES, YOU NEED TO STATE BEFORE THE DEADLINE WHICH ONE YOU LIKE THE BEST. IF NOT – I’LL DO IT FOR YOU
- References can be used - 3D or photograph, BUT you can't paint over them. It has to be your own painting.
- Custom brushes can be used, but to some extent - they can't be pre-made parts of the future painting, like a whole tree, brush, cloud, an explosion, lighting... you get the point. They can be - a couple of leaves, a couple of grass blades

Hey josh hows it going? I like the idea of a calm beach with gentle waves lapping at it. It is actually what I normally picture to help myself meditate. In any case I will be coming up with some ideas probably won't have time to do an image for another week do to finals.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Dang, not looking forward to that character modeling final. I'm still gonna try to do this painting.
Doing good, I have a full page of Ivory Hunters done, I'll show you in the morning if you go tomorrow. Just the story, not the sketches. You actually missed a good drawing class today! THe woman who modelled today had a pretty nice bod and they were nude poses. I'm definately going to the next one! ;)

Figures I miss a day of figure drawing and they finally have a good model. As far as class goes tomorrow there is no point so long as I don't have my laptop. At least the deadline for this challenge is after finals so I wouldn't worry about this till next week.

Hi everybody, i made a pre-viz of my idea. I wanted to make it look like a human that is standing on a giant snow mountain looking down, while snow leafs flowed down his surrounding. I want to create a more complex painting, but alot of the time that creates less emotion. Ill try to get it better. This is very quick idea that first came to mind when i saw the name of this challenge. I have to see if i can find some time to make a final concept of this or something totally different. Although, good luck everybody. This pre-viz took me 10-20 minuts.

Here is mine so far. Not entirely done, but I'm tired now so I'll have to finish tomorrow. Awesome job Jassar, I feel peaceful just looking at it. And your too Tjerkotten, even though I am somewhat afraid of snowy mountains, cause of a scary experience skiing.
I decided on the wilderness instead since I've never been to a desert island.

looks good, the outlines are the sketchlayers i presume, but very good. Perhaps you could put a fisherman in fron near the water or something. Keep on going! peace

Hi Everybody, i think this version of piece and quiet is what it means to me. Somehow a surreal world with alot of green around me and the sky that lifts me up. Also colours make me mellow and peacefull. This is what this theme means to me. If i would have to paint the theme alone it would be alot more empty, but this is how i would enter a dream and stay there all night. Concept painting is done in 2-3 Hours. Don't know if i put it in the finals, ill see.

Damn! This one is effin awesome! Like a walkway to heaven or something. You certainly got my vote this time. And I thought my clouds looked good. :(
The snow scene wasnt bad, but very difficult to see. Needed more depth in it.

Mountain always stand erect straight and never shows any sign of disgrace. So it is a sign of audacity, patience and passion. Stupa is an icon of Buddha beside Buddha is an envoy of peace, I think there is no more peaceful place rather than the mind of a child. So I depict the child as a sign of peace . This is what my painting potrays.
Photoshop and genius tablet about 3 hours
have to touch some part for final.
lots of great entries .

Hmm... actually I painted this one just for the fun of it today (had to make a relaxing break from work) and not with this very challenge in mind. But since it fits the topic quite well --as many others I also find piece and quiet'ness in nature-- I feel free to post it. Hope noone minds. ;)

You said: "Any medium is allowed, as long as it can be put into digital form - scanned, photographed, etc."
Did I missunderstand it perhaps? :xx: :wall:
BiG ToE-3DT
17-11-2008, 05:21 PM
yeah, you did. the any medium part is set towards the tools you use to paint with. examples: crayons, pencil, water color, oil, or digital(photoshop) the scanned/photograph part is for people who rather paint the old fashioned way and then need to make their art "digital", so they scann, or in some cases, take a picture of it.
They are good pictures though.
