approx. 6-7 hours with crashy and file destroying ArtRage and some 15 minutes final adjustments in Photoshop.

1. pitchus (Very nice piece indeed. I love the shading and the overall quality of work and this goes to show even when the computer is down you can still do excellent work)
2. wargrafix (while there could be more in this image it is pulled off nicely with out exaggerating detail. Good job)
3. tjerkotten (The colors in this one look beautiful and work well with each other. Very Beautiful piece)

There were a lot technically high quality entries in this challenge. Which is really great and I hope this can be keept up for the following challenges... always more fun to participate in challenges with proper competition as this drives oneself to become better each time.
But on the other hand I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed that in most cases robots are just interpreted as some kind of battle or killing machines. The topic had certainly more room for different interpretations. The idea and interpretation of the topic is at least as important as the technical execution. In the end I decided to consider this in my voting.
1st InProgress - The best idea of all entries, IMHO. Showing that robots have a versatile application. While technically not the best entry the unique concept voids that out easily.
2nd tjerkotten - An excellent art work catching a nice 'steampunkish' mood. Also thanks for sharing the progress. Always nice to see and to learn from how other artists do their stuff.
3rd artecnl - As always from you another excellent artwork, especially the light is well catched. The only negative point maybe is that it's a bit hard to understand in which direction the robot looks. :)
Comments on the other entries (in posting order).
M_Cederstrom - The character could be easily a human in some kind of battle suit and doesn't look very much like a robot (reminds me a lot on the character from the Metroid game series :) ). But I like the colourfulness of this piece and also else it's a nice work.
pitchus - Excellent traditional technique. Very nice to see what still can be done with paper and pencil in the computer age. But similiar to M_Cederstrom's entry I miss a certain robot aspect in the picture. It's a very nice and cool looking monster (with some mechanic/ electronic parts) though. :)
Kelo - The price tag is a bit distracting, but else it's a nice comic-style robot.
Neil_F01 - The best entry -if we start the list at the end- but you probably know that yourself. Nonetheless it shows progress compared to your early submission which is the important bit. Without constant practice even the best artist can't reach a good result. So keep going there.
vnmribaya - Technically absolutly excellent. But as I mentioned in the intro... why it has to be a killing machine? :)
aby arty - Even if it looks very quickly drawn (that's not a problem, it's speed painting after all ;) ) and the framing is maybe a bit boring it captures the metally surface of the robot creature very well.
omegamista - Like vnmribaya's work also a technically absolutly excellent piece, but again there is this non unique idea of having some kind of machine just going on a rampage. I like it's unique wood look though. With a more pieceful mood the picture would have made it definitively to my top 3... maybe even won in my vote.
wargrafix - For the technique you choosed it's very well executed. But while the face certainly is cute it looks far too human and not very much like a robot.

tokai
