We will try and do a pedestal comp and character comp at the same time, so keep that in mind when picking.

As far as the pedestal goes, the theme will closely match the breif for the character, but you will be creating a stand for the character to "stand" on. You do not have to do both parts of the comp. If you just want to do a character that is fine.

I know that this would probably be a stupid question, but what is a Death Dealer? I've googled it, but got various results: A knight or something, a Vampire, a Demon... what is it? Heh, I still vote wacky racer, but ignore me :)

I still like the idea of big and small, so I voted for it! I'm not sure what a death dealer is either.. like some kind of freelance grim reaper? lol

Edit: Oh, like the painting by Frank Frazetta? With the axe warrior on the demon-looking horse? That's pretty scrazy lookin :D

well while I would enjoy doing death dealer I think we should do something different. After all we just got done with scary and I don't know it would be nice to do something fun and different. Oh plus people in my family who have seen some of my recent stuff like my ****** Mary and that Doll in the speed painting challenge. Well they are starting to worry I have a bit of a warped or evil mind.

I agree with Darchand, It would be nice to see something a mite more fun and light hearted. Death dealer would be nice project and I wouldnt mind doing it, just like to have something a bit more original and dare I say creative?

I know we can have our own take on the theme but how about we all do something stylistic not realistic ?

I know what you mean, I've been doing people too often (insert pun) I feel like making something else. If death dealer gets chosen, does it have to be a person? Or can it be something that just dishes out deaths?

I would have to say the way they look. If you did a cop or a doctor, they would need to look evil in some way, as if death follows them.:dance:

Deathdealers seems like a cool idea, but it feels a lot like the last comp.

I'm hoping for some better definition than just, "something that deals with death," and "need[s] to look evil in some way."

I mean if that is the topic that we go with, I what something a bit better than evil. That is too broad and abstract. Hell, every entry in the last comp was evil too... so where is the stretch? I mean it's too cookie cutter. Make an evil character, oh and it has to be evil, too... weak sauce.

Deathdealer is a name, and invocation of pain and anguish. What is it? It's your greatest nemesis, it triggers the 'Fight or Flight' instinct in you. And you have only one choice with it, kill it. Kill it before it destroys you and all you love. What does that look like?

This isn't your fear, it is a 'real' creature (or whatever,) something tangible, I don't want to say that is has to be truly real but it should be more that just a horror movie creature. It is the GREAT enemy of you the hero (just putting yourself into a hero type roll.) The final Boss in the videogame that is near impossible to defeat even with the cheat codes.

No offence, but death dealer seem something a high school kid would come up with. Where is the the creativity in that guys?

Think of other stuff rather than big guys with guns ( ignore my cyborg entry :P )

Also I agree that briefs seem a bit to vauge and they need to be more clear from the start and judging should take in to condertation how well the breif is met.

No point having a brief otherwise. Mite as well b make a model and see what others think.

I prefer the two word brief - it's up to you how you interpret it and it gives you freedom to come up with something unique and interesting that you can tailor to holes in your portfolio.

I'll say this. Look at the Dominance War Briefs. There is a Theme description (we are good at that here, I think.) but then there is also an expectation for the entry. Kind of like a parameter set from which the entry can see if it is really following the theme set out or not.

I think that the main advantage of a bit of description is that it when it comes time for judging we could better tell which entry best fits the theme. I am all for themes with a lot of interpretation, that can be alot of fun. I guess the only reason I think a bit of a description would be warranted here is just to somehow define this competition from the last one. If you can take your entry from the last comp and enter it in this one it doesn't really feel like a different theme, if you know what I mean. Either way though I'll be excited to see what everyone comes up with :D

Change of topic: Is there any way to not show the count of the votes?, because when it reaches a certain point it's obvious what'll be the topic - and that leaves plenty of time for people to start the project early which is a big advantage.

No problem with the last comp, BUT the deathdealer idea being kicked around doesn't sound different for it in any way. I understand the topic will be different, but so from what has been said it seems like the same thing. NOW I know our Mr. B ToE will come up with something fun, but will a topic like that be able to really standout from the last one. That is what I think the problem is.

dhin: it was a terrible joke about all that lol, imo stuff. I prefer Joseph - there are several reasons and most likely nothing anyone would like to hear, but it's all in there.
