Avatar - 2d - POSEIdOON - "Fragment"

Hello,

This is my first competition online, lets see how it works :)

I always loved flying citys or flying islands in the clouds, so my
concept comes from that. I thought about a fragmented planet where the
laws of gravity would be a little diferent, for example, metal and water
levitate.

The continents and islands of the planet have a percentage of
metals in the rocks and that is what allows it to float, the more metal it has,
higher it gets...i have some sketches to get the idea...

I use Corel Painter and Photoshop, for the digital work.

I thought that in a world like this transportation would be very important, and
metal being a material that can float, it would be very valuable.

Here are some sketchs of airships... some made of metal and not having the
need to be so aerodynamic, others from the continents more poor in metal
and smaller but faster...

Here are my initial habitants of the planet...
and one test color.

My idea is still a little in the beginning, i need to focus on the important...

I like that you have thought about why the fragments would levitate and not just done it.
You're character looks really great and I really want to see more of this.

Sorry for not saying something for so long,
but i was busy with other works.

Next i'll show my progress, and the final look of my avatar.

The first image is my initial sketch on paper,
The second image is the final line made on painter.

Here is my update.
The art line is complete, started making background environment
and skin color.

as the character stands out more from the blue background I like that better.
the colours looks really good and I really like the image.

The colours look great and the floating necklace is a nice touch. The dude's got attitude.

I agree with you mr_carl, the blue background works best...
and the image will have alot of brown tones because of the floating islands.

Well here are my new updates...

Finished painting my character,
but still have the stick left for the end.

Now i'm taking care of the background and environment,
and i'm still thinking in adding some airships, but that depends
on the time i have.

Hope you like it and criticize...:D

not much to crit at the moment, he looks really great, ripped and fit for fight :)
Ill wait till there is more done with the background, and don´t forget the necklace.

So the islands looks good, but as you said some more stuff to fix up, oh and btw the necklace looks great :)

It's great Poseidon........I'm loving the colors so far.....you just need to add more details.....

Maybe bring some of the blue to his skin.....just as reflex? just divagating....:P

The floating islands looks excellent and does´t draw the eyes to much from the main object that allso looks really good.

The lighting around the floating islands is great. Makes a good sense of depth.
