I think you read the instruction wrongly. Your supposed to keep the whole gate... and presume that there will be actors standing in front of the gate.

I've just reed instructions and i think i leave enough of gate itself. Maybe forum leader could clarify this.
I thought my "actors" could be in boat.

Great! So that means we are free to create a semi-fantasy image right! This will be fun!

Base on the rules "The Gate" means including the spires and not just the Gateway alone right? The rest, trees, background and road goes... I hope I got that right...

I prefer to keep it as realistic as possible, but fantasy influences can be made.

Yes you are right about the gate

I asked the same question to suirebit a month ago when this started... thats how he responded. So I guess, from where your at, you might need to include the spire head too...

Still looks cool man.. keep on going...

I always like the creative way you see and mix reference. You can go on but I would like you to make the gateway more defined and include more of the original plate, as eyecon said. Right now the gate is blending with the rock and loosing much of it's purpose.

And don't forget the final goal is a nightshot, if you have time :)

My idea was to blend it in rocks as much as possible, to look like it is build on rocks, and to save, as much as it possible, original plate.
I like it as it is right now, but if you think that it's really necessary to see more of plate i will change it.
And i will try to find time for night shot.

I know, I'm just telling you to define the edges and structure better - for instance you cut half an archway, which doesn't make much architectural sense :) Feel free to blend it, but make the gate structure have a sense, feeling like it really comes out of those rocks, not just mashed against it :)
