Hi! This is my first time entering the war so I'm pretty excited. Here we go!

SPARTAAAAH... whoops... THREEDYYYYYH!!!

After days of banging my head into wall I settled on one subject. The Machines were out of the question, but I must say I was pretty tempted of doing some foxy daemon princess ;). No deamons for me though they seem to be pretty popular now. I'm going with Norm Stalker called Venator - Hunter.

He is only know as Venator. He's a member of a classified army elite unit. That unit is marked unsuspectly in the files as 638th IRB (Infantry Reconnaissance Bricade). Usually teams infiltrate deep behind the enemy lines to do some serious damage to supply lines or capture/kill enemy leaders. That isn't the case of Venator. He's a lone wolf of war. He's actually one man's team and he works best alone. He could spend weeks in hostile territory without enemy even knowing he was there, just observing and waiting for the perfect shot. To aid Venator in his quest he has some interesting equipment: An ancient relic rifle from the time before the Ultimate Weapon was fired. Weapons organic technology was long lost in the mists of time, but with Invokers it was turned into a powerful magical weapon that can kill anyone or anyTHING. Venator also has a magical googles, that aid him to see things that normally are invisible. He also has a very particular method of movement and staying concealed. A warp glove opens a small portal of magic that Venator can jump through and emerge to other place. Before each mission Venator charges the glove with Bricades Invokers powerful magic.

Here's 1st iteration of concept. I just had to try out the oh so trendy Alchemy. It was pretty fun to doodle with it.

http://www.heksaedri.com/images/dominance_war/concept_1st_iteration_character.jpg

I then opened the doodle in PS and painted on it.

http://www.heksaedri.com/images/dominance_war/concept_2nd_iteration_character.jpg

The rifle. I was thinking of some sort of sniper rifle that is made of organic matter. The stock is "grown" over metal parts like the barrel and magazine chamber. I'll have to think about it more. I'd like it to have musket kind of feeling so the scope may be too much...

http://www.heksaedri.com/images/dominance_war/concept_weapon.jpg

Here's some doodles of the other gear like the googles and the glove. I think I'll have some tube running from the glove to his backpack where the magical "batteries" are carried.

To end this too long post, here's how the glove works:

Tell me what do you guys think. Any help or comments are appreciated. Thanks.

I painted a quick pose for the character. Maybe now I can finally start with the 3d.

Here's what I've got so far. Still lots of work to be done. Arms, face and legs get a ZB treatment later.

Hi! First of all, great work so far, i really like the concepts, especially the one with the portals:)
The rifle looks cool, the organic idea is pretty nice.

But i must say, that maybe you should concentrate on the special skills of the character. I mean, from the army of dominance war, this guy is maybe just one of the assault guys, who dies first in the battle, and nobody care for them...
The portal idea is great from this point of view, but it won't really show on one beauty shot, only in animation.
So i think you should put on something special for the guy, a robotic arm, or something i don't know.

Norms for the win! Hope you continue the good work!

I agree with Cordero. Look out for something, which makes him stand out!
Nevertheless great work so far!

JuST & Cordero - Thanks for your comments. I guess I know what you mean and I'll have to think about it. But I kinda like the idea that he is just a "regular" army grunt who is just doing his job.

Anyways. Here's some more modelling. It's (really) slowly taking some shape. Oh man, I hate modeling ears :wall:

The size of the knife is impressive compared to the hand ...:)
so your drawing concepts are well.

For some reason he screams motorbike :) Give him a crazy 'mount' to ride on klike the ones from Final Fantasy:Advent children and that can be his 'weapon' :)

Its a great looking model but the magical element to him doesn't really come across at all.

Nice, sculpt looks very cool. I love the cloth between the armor, looks really nice.

He's look a little "flat" maybe, the profile isn't that interesting. Maybe scale up some of the armor pieces just a little bit. I know you're trying to keep things fairly grounded and realistic, but it'd be nice to give him a bit more silhouette.

DeadlyFreeze - Thanks. I'll try to make up the lack of magic with the weapon and gate generator thingie in his arm.

Puckducker - Thanks for the comments, I'll have to think about the silhouette.

I had lots of real work stuff going on, so I'm in a bit hurry now. Here's the rifle.

miycko - Thanks!

Ok, new stuff. I sure am glad they extended this 7 days. I've been working with the low poly versions of the dude and gun. Dude is 7870 tris and the gun is 1775 tris that totals 9645 tris. I spared some polys if I run into some trouble in posing the character. I also did the diffuse texture. No normal or spec map yet in the pics.

Really sharp diffuse map! Well done.
You plan on taking this guy in zBrush for normals?

Buzzy - Thanks. I've already baked the normal map from high res model, but there's still some fixes to be done.

Super presentation. Great work:) Only thing is that those stripes from the concept, wish they made it to the final character...Well done and congrats on finishing:D

Your presentation is brilliant. Ties to your character perfectly and ties the whole group of images together as well.

Nice model, nice textures. I'd like to see some of the swirls from the gun worked into the armor, not that it'd really make much sense to have a stealth dude running around in glowing armor, but even if they didn't glow, I think it'd help tie him and the gun together just a pinch more. Really nice work, this is a pretty solid piece. Well done.

Joseph Pomeisl - Thanks. I had to drop the stripes because of tight schedule. I tried to do them quickly, but it just didn't work. It made the character look too confusing like a good camo does.

Warlock 279 - Thanks you too for your comments. The idea behind the gun was that it's an age old weapon from the mists of time. It's somehow organicly grown over the gun parts. But I agree, armor could look better with swirls.
