Hi^^
I saw some CG models and were impressed.
I have only a bit experience with Cinema 4D but it looks like Maya and 3DSMax
are the best programms for modeling.
Well i want to learn how to model models like that:
http://www.3dtotal.com/home2/gallery/images/big/3528.jpg
(The final mesh was modelled in Maya, textured with Photoshop and ZBrush, rendered in Mental Ray, and ShaveHair + mesh for the hair.)

I didn't know that you use several programs for one model.
So is there a guide for noobs like me somewhere?
I know that it will take a lot of time till I will get some decent results, but i am patient.

If not could you tell me which programm is better for beginners?
Maya or 3DSMax? Someone told me that maya ist better for Human Modeling but i only see tutorials for 3DSmax here.

This question came up several times and you may want to search this forum. But for a general question like that, there will be no answer except: Try both and pick your favorite ;)
I found max easyer to learn because of the more common interface. And I donīt think that there is a all-embracing tutorial which covers the way from modelling in max/maya over to detailing in mudbox/zbrush, texturing in PS and back to rendering. But you may want to check out the videos by Eric Maslowski (http://cg-india.com/tutorials/3dsmax_tutorials_organic_modeling.html) which for sure will take you a great step forward.

I even think Cinema 4D is a good program to start with since it has a low leraning curve. And you said you allready have a bit of experience with C4D. Max and Maya may have some more complex and advanced tools than C4D, but C4D is widely used by many (freelance) artists because of the low cost of the pakage.

Anyway, only want to say you dont must underestimate C4D above more expansive packages

But, yeh you probably should try all to pick the one you like most. (i use max, since It fits me best)

XSI is another contender which should not be ignored. It's in a similar price range as 3DSMax.

Still, as Nukie suggested, you should stay with C4D for a while, if only to get to grips with the basics. Then, if you still want something "bigger", you can get Trial versions of the other packages to find out which one suits you best.

You might even find your mojo in Blender (http://www.blender.org), an open source program with the price tag of 0$. ;)
