i'd better make a new thread as i will be workin on this for a long time.

heres what i have, need loads and loads of work, current polygon count is at 10 000.

and looking to at least move that to 8000 or less..

final product is going to far exceed that number. by at least anotehr 10k.

enough rambling

looking good my dear friend!
what is the purpose of that model? a game or sumethin´?
cant weait to see some more textures dude, ah and yes, the texture on the roof seems to show the tiling to much, try and fix that my friend

cheers!

thanks rage. that roof texture is only temporary. most of the work gone into this has so far getting around how to make it look real instead of sheets of textures.

im going to custom texture the whole thing, with as little tileing as possible..

need to get my hands on a digi camera so i can take pictures of walls..

in the last week or so, been doing other things for other people, this is my personal project

so as you can imagine, it goes on hold when i can actually make some money for my troubles.

heres an image, ****** brazil took me all of one whole day to render this, and i dont think it should have, but as i seem to have a difficulty in stopping a render when started :)

plus it gave m an oppertunity to get right into the book i have been reading :)

well enough rembling

thats looking good!
if u want u can get a similar look using max default gi rendering and it will take less time with its default params...maybe u are setting brazil parameters in a wrong way...it shouldnt take that long....

cheers!

Wow, thats some good stuff! I think you should add a hay pile in the corner. You also need some chickens, horses, a carage, a pile of horse poo, a horse tie post with drinking trof, and lets not forget the water well. Just some ideas for ya.

TyKeiL
11-06-2003, 04:02 AM
c'mon nathan3d, you can do better than that, lay it al down for me to get inspired over =P

i like to see pages of ideas
hehe cheers

You need a fountain and gardens, and lest we forget a security orge with a ring in his nose and a rope tied to the ring and a pole near the front gate. . . does that help? :D

TyKeiL
24-06-2003, 10:10 AM

SniperMaster
26-06-2003, 06:22 PM
add some barrels out the back (beer barrels)
fireplace? (i dont think u have one, i might be wrong)
add some rooms with beds in it
add some stuff on the counter
add some stoves an stuff to the kitchen area.
add a sorta "bar" to it and have stools around it
put some ornaments on the shelf and stuff, make it look pretty :)

jus some more ideas.
as to the courtyard, as ppl have said make it a cool little garden with a pond n stuff.

nathan 3d
26-06-2003, 07:58 PM
Hey SM, there was a fire place in that room with the first guys in it. The fire place was a double room one. It went through thw wall into both rooms. Also, notice the chimnie : )

The beer barrels is a good idea. Mabey a stack a wood too.

mabey a blacksmith tent outside, anvil and all : )

TyKeiL
27-06-2003, 07:11 AM
hehe cheers guys, :) thanks for the comments

and yeah i definatly will put some more stuff in the inn,

i am about 30% way through the construction of the actual building thres a cellar and a coach house, stables and a blacksmith :)

even a brewery, servents quarters and more,, its taking me a long time because i work then it crashes then i work some more,, the i love pressingt hat render button,

for the last two weeks i was playing with GI using brazil and that takes ages,, i couldnt find a solution to my problems that doesnt take 50+ hours to render on my duron1000 so i stuck with the standard max lights..

im back on constructing again,, hopefully i will get this done so i can start on the proper textures, the ones for the thing at the moment are really temporary just for some fun.

and after the construction is done then comes the props and charecters,

ooh and theres vegie patch out the side garden
:) have a good day

it needs Bar Wenches!

TyKeiL
30-06-2003, 03:51 AM
hehe sure willl be some bar wenches for you dark bob

but i think the inn keeper will haev a few words if you get too friendly, also the blacksmith might kick your ass, trying to bed his love interests daughters ;)

anyway ive an update,, its taking me heaps long to build now because of all the crashed when chamfering,, i dont know why but max doesnt like detached objects then attacked and chamfered,

anyway heres the pic
http://apache.airnet.com.au/~praisegd/tdhimages/the_dark_horse_inn.jpg

nathan 3d
30-06-2003, 04:56 AM
One thing that might help with chamfering is to reset x from. It should alow it to chamfering eaisely.

nice work!

TyKeiL
30-06-2003, 05:17 AM
thanks nathan
ive never once used xform of anykind ever, i dont know what its even for.

and have a q3 map :) the inn as a q3 map (http://apache.airnet.com.au/~praisegd/tdhimages/tdhi.pk3)

nathan 3d
30-06-2003, 05:41 AM
You can find Reset XForm in the Utilities pannel (in 3ds max)

Just select your object and reset. It may flip your normals if your object has been mirored. But its easy to flip them back.

Thanks, I'll try it out now.

I dug Quake 3 out and installed it. Then did my best to remember how to do custom maps in Q3A. Luckly I remember. So I fired up Q3A..I looks kinda crappy now days.

So I ran round and round The Dark Horse Inn and I must say it's cool. Are there some missing textures on the rafters and railings? The other textures show up just fine. Now I looked through every room..but did I see a bar wench? lol. Cool map man! In all the maps I have played today this one is by far the best.

TyKeiL
30-06-2003, 11:48 AM
cheers dark bob,, there is a way to get all the powerups at once,,

at least for 10 seconds or so, see if you can get them all,, then kill the bots hehe

nathan 3d
30-06-2003, 04:29 PM
lol, I have been told that before. I will have to wait for another good hair day and the right lighting before I can take another one. Since I wear hats, good hair days don't come very often : )

Yea, the level was cool but I had a number of textures not show up. I was kindof upset. But I still had fun playing the level.

TyKeiL
01-07-2003, 03:18 AM
yeah i sort of knew that would happen, at least the geometry was there,,

i lost the map file and couldnt change it so what you see is what you get,..

after im fiished with the 3d model i will see about exporting it to something like ut2k3 or something

im definatly going to get a crystalspace thing going sometime,,Crystal Space (http://crystal.sourceforge.net/drupal/)

looking cool TykeiL, keep at it, take care

26-11-2003, 03:44 PM
The stone looks great, but the wood is letting it down badly at the moment. Keep up the good work :)

nathan 3d
26-11-2003, 06:11 PM
hey, it looks good still. I agree with the wood, give it more cracks and what not. like along the grain. If you have any old building with big wood beams you will see alot of cracks due to the wood contracking while drying.

Solidarity
26-11-2003, 07:39 PM
i'm thinking thats not the finished texture for the wood. ;)

TyKeiL
27-11-2003, 03:37 AM
cheers guys, sounds like the wood has got to change and that im good to go with the stone

Looks great. I really like how you variated the stone texture by putting different sizes.
