Hey all.

I'm new to 3D modeling. I'm using Maya 4.5 and I've learned all the tools and have done some basic modeling (bottles and such) with NURBS, polygons, and a little subD.

I am mostly interested in animation, and want to start creating characters (cartoonish and realistic) for animated shorts (duh). But I am still confused about which is "better" for this -- NURBS, polygons, or subD.

I know it's partially a personal choice. And that lots of models incorporate some of all three.

What are the specific strengths and weaknesses of each in regards to character animation? Should certain parts of the body be created using one over the other?

I haven't been able to find an article or tutorial that describes any of this ... if there is one, just send the URL over :)

Thanks for any and all help!
