Nice starts H2olt and Longhi! I find the time goes so fast when you really enjoy what your modeling...
Here is my 2nd concept so far...just about 4 hours on this as well. Have big plans for the weapon and details, hope I can pull it off in time....

M_Cederstrom
03-07-2009, 02:19 PM
It not as awesome as every one but i'm happy with it because this is my first full body sculpt/model I have ever done. Most of the time I'll just do the head, well anyways i ran out of time. i didn't get to pose him, i tried the transpose and figure how it work, after the time was up but rule are rule and that was after the time limit. I might try another one. :D

hi guys ..all Hybrids its very nice..! ok.lets start.. this my hybrid about 1.35 min i hope to finish it... (sorry for my bad english..)
H2olt
03-07-2009, 11:10 PM
StaleFlesh - Thx, nice start on yours too.
Longhi - Nice work. the asymmetrical design is nice. Depending on how you read the rules, that separate shader for the mechanical parts may be too much, i think it's color only, if not I'm gonna do the same thing.
oktow - Good start there, looking good for 45 mins. keep at it. the only tip i could give (for these timed comps) is try to develop the whole sculpt at the same time. Don't over develop a small part before the rest.
M_Cederstrom - sure rules are rules but this is the WIP thread, you may not be able to submit the posed version, in the final, but you can post it up here.
Babis - nice start there. if you're running into trouble sculpting the feet like that from the base mesh, try using the clay or clay tubes brush. they work well on non-ideal geometry
Here's my latest update on the runner. I just broke him out of symmetry a bit, and I think i'm gonna walk away and try some other concepts now. If i still like this later I can come back and finish up with another few hrs before final. Let me know what you guys think.
M_Cederstrom
04-07-2009, 12:52 AM
Thanks H2olt, i'll post it later when i get home tonight or tomorrow moringing. I think i will start a new one as well. :D o yeah your sculpt, Wow pain, mech, and greatness. :D
H2olt
04-07-2009, 01:26 AM
Thought I'd try another concept. It's fun trying to see what weird shapes you can pull out of this mesh. Obviously i got a ways to go on this but i'm gonna see if I can make feet like a t-rex, and some wings from the fingers.

@H2olt>>tnx bro your work is nice but i like your first creature
and this another update 4 hours... fiuh..... and now time for weapon and pedestal...
KrRul
04-07-2009, 04:28 PM
hell , thinking of jumping on this one ..... , heres what i got in half time .
dont know what to do next :dunno:
Freespace-3DT
04-07-2009, 05:39 PM
KrRul: The pose and his face look awesome, but currently he still looks like a guy in armor. Try adding something that shows the armor is part of his body, not just on top of it. He's not wearing his armor, it's intergrated forcefully into him.
Fenixy
04-07-2009, 09:55 PM
great works guys!
KrRul: i agree with Freespace-3DT , first thing that i soght was an armor, but nice sculpt, i realy like chest
And times up for me, i posed it, then i saved it, then i reopened it, and....crap file got corrupted or somthing, i dont have backup files :wall:... blah well, might do somthing new lol
KrRul
04-07-2009, 10:30 PM
hey , thanks Freespace , i will make the armor look like its part of him .
Fenixy - looking at ur sculpt , i get the idea on what to do , thanks man , and nice sculpt from u , esp. the mech arm .
Freespace-3DT
04-07-2009, 11:07 PM
Fenixy: That looks too good to give it up. Just figure a way to hide or damage the finger. :)
oktow
05-07-2009, 02:11 AM
@KrRul>>nice scuplt and yup a think thats armor.. must blend with body... keep it up...
@Fenixy>>owww nice sculpt.... mmm i think your problem come when you smooth and divide... but you can hide it :D
AlexM
05-07-2009, 03:35 PM
KrRul- nice sculpt I like it's torso, just add some mechanical gears into it and you'll get biomechanical hybrid:wave:
Longhi- good job man.......
goast666
05-07-2009, 07:41 PM
Damn! I leave for the weekend and everyone is going nuts. Anyway, I'll post up some stuff later this evening. Great work everyone.
H2olt - How are you getting the hole in the back of his head? Did you grab the middle of his back and the top of his head and pull them together then clay the hell out of it? If so...damned good idea.
Fenixy - Everytime I see him I think Mr. Freeze for some damned reason. I love the piece either way. And I'm sorry to hear about the corrupted file...always sucks. Incremental saves!!!

Fenixy:thats a real problem bro.....why dont u try some inflate brush on the fingers and then couple of flatten and clay tube brush to get the fingers right.
Ohh, another thing, cud somebody refer me a tutorial or some tips of painting different material on the same model , as I want to seperate the body and the mechanical part of my model.
goast666
05-07-2009, 08:43 PM
Sagiarts - We can only use one material on the model.
Freespace-3DT
05-07-2009, 08:53 PM
He meant painting the organic parts in one color and the mechanic ones in another. I'd suggest how to do it but I use Mudbox, and I'm sure it's totally different in Zbrush.
goast666
05-07-2009, 08:58 PM
Sag - It's easy.
pick a color. Then color>fill object (have RBG on and at 100)
then pick another color, turn off Zadd and Zsub on the brush and only have RGB turned on, then color him where you want the different color.
Longhi
05-07-2009, 09:58 PM
thank you guys!
sag - great one man!

Great looking entries everyone! Just started Mine. An hour into the model, still fleshing the main forms out. Will solidify them in the next hour as I continue to design it while sculpting. Taking a break and will continue at the end of the day.

My God there is some fantastic work here. I don't how you guys can model so fast, probablly lots of experience lol. Sagiarts your work is incredible, the level of detail is superb!
I only have 1.5 hours left (actually a bit less than that) I still need to paint this thing, adjust the weapon to fit the back properlly and try to detail/fuse the armour on front chest and arms, I kinda doubt I'll get it done, but will post my results non the less.

Okay... Finally got a chance to break away from work ( In which I'm
doing mech stuff as well, go figure). I got about 45 min in this guy so
far...Just shaping up proportions at this point. I'm gonna spend about an
hour or maybe a little longer on the organic portions and then I'll bring the
sub-d levels down and work on all the mechanical dressings and such.
I'm gonna call this guy Biomare...I'm not sure what the hell that even means
but thats what I'm calling him.

Hi everybody! I haven't posted anything since I was a total noob to 3d. It feels good to be back. :smug:
This is my first sculpting contest. I've been wanting to enter one of these for a while and I just couldn't resist this one. I've had a copy of Zbrush for a while now but have never really used it.
This is my WIP. It's a giant genetically engineered hyper-intelligent slug that has been equipped with an energy cannon and jet boots. I've put in 4 hours so far. I'm going to need to put a little more time in on the details of the boots. Any other suggestions?
The SLUGG is built from the weapon base model alone.

I have worked on this for about 4:30, not sure what else i want to do to this sculpt as i dont want to overwork it,
I think the only thing ill work on further is the pedistal as its very simple just now.

KrRul: Looks good to me. :)
darkmonk: Sorry to hear that, but you should still submit it either way. Except for finishing details, it's overall a complete piece. And I love what you did to the fingers.

Well , here's what I have. Got just enough time to slap some polypaint on and time's up! these challenges sure bring out some wicked talent out there. Keep on sculpting!

That's for sure!
Everyone remember the deadline is in less than a day, so if you're still sculpting, get ready to add your finishing touches and submit your entry.
I'm sure Gnomon Workshop is also thrilled to see such sculpts from our community.

This has been an awesome challange, its sweet to see the broad theme has really been used to its max by sculptors.
Darkmonk: That really reminds me of metal gear ray, awesome sculpt!

hi I am done here is a preview, but I have 2 confusions ADMIN PLEASE HELP:
1)Is this kind of shading is allowed for final judgement i.e. shading like steel and sculpy clay together, here I have used total 3 matcaps ,pls define.
2) asFreespase-3dT has told time is less than a day but in gmt site that u have referred is showing 6.33 pm gmt right now while writing the mail so I can post withen any time beteen 12pm gmt that is a bit more than 24 hrs right?(I am bit confused pls accept my entry if its some hrs late 3dtotal freinds pls coperate)
any way admins plas mail me asap so that i can post the final , I am just unable to post as I am doubtful about multiple matcap use other than that I am done with sculpting here is the prefinal look:

I've gotten a bit more time to work on this. I really need to focus on the feet for the next hour and then get this thing posed and tweak any final details that brings up.

In my opinion this is not allowed as Freespace said "To differentiate between organic and inorganic, you can use two base colors" So this is just colors and not materials. And if I look at the final submissions thread I think that only one matcap was used in any case.
However great sculpt Sagiarts, and H2olt too!

Jabberwock:I also think using various matcaps may arise some problem in judgement....so I used only one material and colour.
Great sculpt by everybody.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey sagiarts, I came to same conclusion as Jabberwock. One matcap with 2 colours max. I think your sculpt looks better without the shiny metal matcap anyway! I ran out of time to colour mine as well so left mine as a since coloured matcap.
Was an excellent challenge and rad sculpts by all!!!

Ok, I finly found some time at the end of this comp to finish my sculpt. As you can see I've used the second material for the wepon I've made. I also posed her delicately. Nothing very complicated but I hope you like it.

When I rendered my final entry I forgot about perspective(it was shut off). Of course it'll not change anything moreover I saw Sagiarts work the best of all. But anyway Cremator must looks thus...
