I started this animal to test the new fur tools in Modo 401.
What do you think so far?

I'm not sure what type of fur hogs have, but it looks awesome. the tusk looks a bit too clean but this beast is sweet.

How does modos hair work? Geometry spawned at render time?

It works quite easy.
Just trow a fur material on an object, and you have it.
You can also use Hair Guides, and textures to control the hair.
Rendertime was about 25 min for 16 AA passes.
