Hi all,

I'll start off by describing the situation we are in, basically we hired a freelancer to complete a fantasy scene for us which we will be using for our website, he finished 80% of the work in about 3 weeks, but it has taken him nearly 2 months to make the final amendments we are after - he did this on a project a few years ago, we thought we'd give him another go but he's let us down again.

We've agreed that he will release all the studio max files to us, but the issue is he's used a plugin called Vray to render it out, this will probably make more sense to you than me.

Essentially this is the concept artwork for the scene : http://office.tvgmedia.com/pixel_rough5.jpg
and this is the final render so far: http://office.tvgmedia.com/sky32.jpg

as you can see a lot of the work has been done, we just didnt like the following points:

1. Sky doesn't look 3d, and doesn't look at all authentic - he's adamant it is 3d but looks cut out to me.
2. The grass doesn't look right nor does the general ground.
3. The trees are just awful
4. the pod at the bottom, the texture doesnt look right - I gave him this quick example I did of some rust in C4D http://office.tvgmedia.com/metal-test.jpg but he came back with this?? I'm a complete amateur with 3D apps, my expertise is in motion graphics and AE but I think even you will agree the rust looks more authentic :)
5. The overall colour balance looks too saturated in comparison to the artwork.

if anyone thinks they can help at all please contact me on:

Thanks to all who have responded to this thread, we've now found a guy that we are happy to work with.

Many thanks
