Hmmmm...Gender Bender? Is that what I suggested a while back, Big Toe? Where you take a character and redesign them as the other gender? Like a male version of Ripley from Aliens or a female version of Rambo?

I voted for it anyway:) I'm just glad to have my laptop fixed up and ready for another comp! I just checked out the Jim Henson challenge entries and I am PISSED my laptop broke down when that was starting! I am definitely entering this one!

Though I guess I should hurry up and reinstall my programs then:) Gonna be really hard to enter anything without photoshop and 3dsmax at least...

I don't know if Master Chief or Iron Man would be too good since they wear armour (remember Nicole from DOA4 - she looked exactly like MC yet she's a girl...). Why not someone like Marcus Fenix or Kratos instead of the Chief...

As for me, I'm looking mostly at one of two options; A female version of Strider Hiryu from Capcom's Strider (and also Marvel VS Capcom, or Tatsunoko VS Capcom), or Princess of Persia. Though which version of POP I don't know yet; I wanna cel shade something, so the new POP games for 360/PS3/DS might be the way to go, but the designs in the PS2/Xbox/GC trilogy are really strong too, and could make a really cool looking princess...

Though a female version of No More Heroe's homicidal otaku nerd, Travis Touchdown, is awfully tempting:D

I think if all 27+ people that voted for the comp actually partake, separate threads could be nice. It is nice to have focused comments on your work, and to be able to comment on others work without your post being a mile long. However, if only a hand full of people partake, then it is not really necessary.

Similarly, I think it depends on what kind of specs you are looking at. If the comp is something nice and quick, say 4000 tri or less with a 512 map, something you could get done in a weekend, then you really don't need as many post to show off your work. If you were thinking something more like Dom War specs in the 10000-12000 range with one or more 2048 maps, something that is going to take a month to six weeks, then that is a bit more work, with a bit more to show off, so the separate threads would be nice.

Really, it is six of one and a half dozen of the other. My vote is if you are looking at running higher specs lets split it up. If you are going to keep it small, as Tetsuya said, if it isn't broken...

it would be nice to have enough spec to let loose, but specs getting close to dom war, and you can expect a similiar amount of time and effert to really give justice to it. I personally would be happy to see something in the 6-8k region and a 1024x1024 map.

I think Buzzy is an example to everyone of how fast you can push out a dom war spec character if you need to ;)

In real life you don't get all that long to finish things - we get a pretty easy ride in these comps really. I mean someone with no kids and an understanding (or no) partner could have hundreds of hours free to put into their entry.

I'm not complaining at all about this by the way - I need that time cos I've got a kid, a girlfriend who's sick to death of me sitting in front of a computer and after sitting in front of max all day at work the last thing I feel like doing most nights once the sprog's gone to bed is spending 4 more hours bashing away at a 3d model.
