Hi, I am new to the Threedy Forums :) If my schedule opens up, I'm thinking of doing Strider from MvsC2. Hope I can join in the fun.

That pic on the top left - where's it from? I've never seen that pic of Strider before, but it looks cool...
Also, excellent choice man! I was thinking of doing Strider for a time before I settled on my character. Hope you get him done, 'cuz I wanna see him 3D - he hasn't been in 3D yet, has he? Or is he in Tatsunoko VS Capcom? I dunno, but I know I wanna see ya finish him:)

that image showed up when i just goggled for images. I wish he was in TvsC (would kick sooo much ass , but I think they put in Karas to fill the void. I'm gonna do my best to get a 2d concept up soon.

Well here is my concept of Strider(haven't come up with a female name). Hope you like and give me great feedback :)

Oh I like how she has the pants that Momiji has in Ninja Gaiden 2 (or Ayane in a number of Tenchu titles). I doubt Ninja actually wore pants that revealed their thighs, but to heck with history!
I think you're going in a pretty spot on direction with this - if I were you though, I'd make sure to look at some female game ninjas (like the aformentioned Momiji from Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Ayane, but also characters from King of Fighters or something) for inspiration. Even if it's just for posing - the pose you chose for your first concept isn't exactly a good one to do. It cuts off too much of the character, and a lot of the features on the torso/arms are squished together and pushed out of proportion. Do something that shows the whole body, so you can think about the whole design.
As it stands now, your Stidette has some pretty man-ish arms in that concept:)
Oh, and Strider's name is Hiryu, isn't it? Just pick a female japanese name that starts with "h" and BAM! you've got your girl name. Something like Hikari might be cool.

Thanks for the tips and link to the website :). I think I'm settling on the name Hiromi. I can see where your coming from about the arm :wall:. The leg garments were inspired from Ibuki from SF III and Ayane(nice that you spotted that). As for keeping history correct, to hell with it indeed :)
Will be posting a base mesh soon btw

Hey folks, wanted to update everyone to the status on my work and I am currently beginning the base mesh and weapons. I would of started earlier, but I'm currently Interning for a VFX studio and school work is a priority. I'll post pics of the mesh very soon.

Here's the base mesh:dance:, the hair is missing for a reason because I was focusing on the body and over all costume.
Poly count so far is 4,900 ( haven't started the hair or weapons)

Good poly flow man! That's a really nice base mesh; super clean, it got all the details - it's gonna be really nice. Gotta step up the pace a bit though, man! It's almost September, and I definitely wanna see this one done!
Oh, and I don't know if you'll find it helpful - you seem plenty talented enough to me already:) -, but I find it good reference, so maybe you'll think it's cool too:

Good luck!

She looks a little flat footed. Try making the feet a bit thicker on top to add more dimension to the feet. They need to be a bit bigger. Same for the hands, not much, but just a little bit broader
The posture seems to be off a bit. She's almost leaning forward, as if she's about to fall over. And the shape of the skull seems incorrect. The forehead should slope back a bit more. I can't be 100% on this, but it's something you might want to take another look at
It's coming a long great

Update:
Took both of your advice and i'll use that link as reference to do the hair and such. I went back and made the feet a bit bigger and reworked the outfit, was getting slack from other people about the bow in the front.
I added the signature belt and weapons that we all know and love :D
I am working as fast as I can and this weekend is gonna should be perfect for me to finish her up (if all these go right).
