Started a new project. Nothing special, but should be fun working on all the clothing for this guy.
Here's a head shot:

dude looks mean...kinda older, but mean.
26-07-2009, 10:04 PM
I love it, man. Looking forward to the clothing.

Haven't I seen that guy on COPS?
Nice start Aleks :)
I'm still waiting for the beauty shot of the dark rider so I can do a post comp. Slacker :(

Great model Aleks, he reminds me of someone famous, maybe he has S.L.Jackson's mouth or something like that.
28-07-2009, 12:00 PM
hey aleks. looking good. reminds me of a piece you did ages ago.

DaddyDoom: Dark who?... :P I didn't want to get back to him (just to think that I'd have to unwrap all those 50+ objects and bake the normals kinda scares me) but I've just discovered a neat plugin for ZBrush so I might be able to import the damn thing in MAX after all. We'll see how it goes once I'm on my main PC.
pables: Could be.I didn't use any refs,though :)
Tank[NL]: hmmm....yeah there's something familiar about him:)
Anyways, almost done with the top so expect some updates tonight.

Some progress on the clothes:

Looks great, although I´m not sure whether the vest thingy shouldn´t be a tad thicker. But other than that - beauty! Did you use alphas on the seams vrinkles on the vest or did you do that all manually?
02-08-2009, 06:54 AM
Awesome, some real skills right here, very inspirational stuff. Next time i'm doing wrinkled cloth this is what I'll keep in mind to aspire towards.
02-08-2009, 08:34 AM
Ghost-D: All hand work :) I don't use alphas for this kind of stuff. I'm not too happy with some of the wrinkles/folds,though,but I blame ZBrush for that ;P
Tjakalen: Thanks :)
02-08-2009, 12:11 PM
Gotta love the coat wrinkles, very good. You have a very good eye for details.
This is going to be yet another great WIP from you (yes, I am a fanboy!).
02-08-2009, 04:28 PM
sweet sculpting :)
02-08-2009, 04:54 PM
Awesome work on the folds Alex.
Are you using the Dam_Standard brush by any chance? If not, I'd be worth looking into. It's essentially the pinch + standard brush in the same stroke. Works very well for folds, especially if you need a sharper crease.
02-08-2009, 05:31 PM
As always.......lost for words with your work........apart from bloomin' beautiful!
04-08-2009, 04:34 PM
Cool, i like :) I really like the detail around the boots and the way you've captured how the jeans/trousers bunch up. he looks well badass cant wait to see this finished
04-08-2009, 11:31 PM
Thanks,guys,glad you like it :)
Crispy4004: I don't use any custom brushes. In fact, the standard and clay brush are the only ones I use when I work in ZBrush (pinch and flatten are helpful too, though). In Mudbox it's pretty much the same.No fancy stuff :)
It's been going pretty slow but here's a little progress:
Gonna start working on all the accessories tomorrow.
05-08-2009, 02:05 AM
Looking awesome as usual, maybe just the jean at the back near the angle look a bit dodgy, but a part from that its looking very neat
18-08-2009, 09:42 AM
Finally stopped being a lazy ass and managed to work a little more on the model:
I've also posed the guy,but there's quite some tweaking needs to be done, but hopefully I'll post the finished stuff tomorrow.

AHAHA, nicely done.
18-08-2009, 10:02 AM
very clean model ...
looking forward to see what coming next
18-08-2009, 10:15 AM
very nice gun. the only that bugs me a bit, is that the barrel isnt rifled. you put in all of that detail, and forgot that, thats just a shame.
good to see you back working on this guy :D
18-08-2009, 10:29 AM
did oyu made up the gun design on your own or used reference? the barrel looks odd in the front, and you could easily reduce some polies there. the grip also looks a bit wrong. no curved enough etc..
i am going to follow this - looks superb so far.
18-08-2009, 11:21 AM
Thanks guys :)
Tank[NL]: yeah,you're right,how stupid of me... =D
Psycho Mantis: Nah,that's S&W 500 Raging Bull. You can check some pictures here: http://www.gunblast.com/Taurus_500.htm
I think I've done a decent job recreating it in 3D ;) Sure,I cheated in some areas, but the gun isn't the focus of this project.I could've easily skipped most of the detailing, but I thought I could use some practice in polygonal modeling :)
18-08-2009, 02:33 PM
wow very impressive. :D
18-08-2009, 02:43 PM
i looked up the reference, and yes - your 3d model is perfect - its the gund design itself that looks a bit weird to me, but you captured and nailed it pretty well.
18-08-2009, 08:04 PM
Amazing....Impressive...Wonderful.......Superb.... .Gorgeous.....Great....Bl00dy Brilliant basically :)
18-08-2009, 10:32 PM
Here's a little something. A lot of objects aren't on their highest subdiv. levels 'cause my laptop can't handle that many polys and some of them aren't finished (arms,head...),but whatever...
19-08-2009, 07:17 AM
looking great :)
can you show some wireframes of body and clothes ?
19-08-2009, 08:12 AM
I guess that this must be on the Webbster's Illustrated Dictionary near the definition of "Awesome".
You keep get better and better Aleks. Amazing stuff!
21-08-2009, 07:21 AM
agree with daddydoom, Awesome!!
21-08-2009, 08:05 AM
