Hello people Here's my concept of Katana (Goddess Of War), I'm still thinking if I should give her a shaved head as seen on the refs, you guys let me know what you think.

Research hairstyles for roman women. Just in case, that hairstyle doesn't go right. Also the don't make the bridge to the nose so dominant and the go easy on the brow. Try to look up angry women of sort. There were more things i wanna to tell u but, i forgot. More or less, get on that and revolutionize the goddess of war.

Wow (darknake) that looks badass, I mean I know it's just a sketch but I can definetly see the potential in your draft. I'm definetly gonna work a little more on the armor pieces and accessories, I also wanna make her a little more athletic.
And to Gegrazion, I am excited to see the turn out as well, When I first saw this contest post the first Character that came to mind was Kratos (a.k.a The baddess mofo EVER), Good luck to you as well brah.
And to my homie Harbinger, good looking out with the suggestions, thanks alot.

This will be the final look for Katana (Goddess Of War) I'm still debating on the hair I'm gonna try the low cut look when I finish modeling, but if it doesn't look right I will change it. I'm in the process of modeling now. And sure (Darknake) u can watch my modeling process. Although I must warn u this is my first time doing a game model.:haha:
P.S. I didn't feel like doing the face, cause everything I drew looked ugly, but dont worry she will have a face.

Quintonius

I use Maya for the base mesh, ZBrush for the detail and both ZBrush & Photoshop for texturing.

Hey peoples, I have a huge delima on my hands. I'm not sure what I should do with the hair, it's really buggin me. My original plan was to do a bald fade like #4, but a friend of mine suggested that I do a high ponytail like #2 (excuse the ugly goro pic) and now I'm thinking I should do a unique ponytail style like #1 cause kratos originally had a ponytail on the old concept. It would be really helpful if you guys let me know what you think out of the four hairstyles, cause I have a headache, :wall: Thanks

I kinda like the first one. It's very unique and would add a cool element to the character.
You might also want to think about adding a little bit more geometry to some area if your gonna z-brush her. Areas like her legs and her waist garment could use a little more. You want the polys to be as uniform as possible to get the best result.
Other than that, it looks good. Lets see more :)

I agree with SR_6274, i like the first one. My second choice would be the fourth one. It's coming along. Close to 7K tris, huh? That's cool. Whatever hairstyle you decide to do, make geometry before you take it in zbrush. Oh and yeah, it's good to have a uniform edge flow so, those long faces will need to have company. Don't worry bro, I don't you're going to exceed the Tri Limit for this contest. Just keep your eyes on the tri counter.

Thanks alot guys, I'm probably gonna go with the number 1 hairstyle, and I will add more loops to the model before taking it into zbrush, thanks for the heads up.

Will say 4, not for the hair but because it's Nathalie Portman, crazy beautiful even in that haircut.

Here's an update guys on the WIP, I'm pretty much done with the base mesh, because I'm really close to the tris limit :(. My UV's are laid out and I'm ready for Zbrush now.

Nice. Looks really clean and very true to Kratos' design. Really going to look nice once you do the texture- since he's such a no-nonsense kinda design (anything that gets in the way of the killing has to go!), stuff like the tattoos are really going to help her pop. Can't wait to see more!

Here's an update on where I'm currently at on my model (this is not done) if anyone have any suggestions or critiques let me know. Also I want to find a way to do the chains wrapped around the forearm armor not sure how to approach it though.
Quintonius

Hey guys to add to my prior post I noticed dat the chains wrapped around Kratos forearms are normal maps i have an idea of how it should be done but I wanna know what u guys would do in this situation, here are some refs from the trailer

looking good Q. I know you said you not done but, don't be afraid to add some fit muscles to the model. Not to much, just a little cut like Bruce Lee, look up women athletes like serena williams.

As far as the chains for the wrist you could either do one of the following:
make them in maya with gauntlets and export the geometry as a normal map.
OR
make a plane and wrap it around the gauntlets and them texture use alphas for the chains
I'll try to look out all for you for another way but, that's what I would do.

wel ive got the same prob bcos i want the chains to be visible in the silouete so in da low poly model i think i am going to just extrude the chains. its hard to explain what i mean without a diagram :)

Pheeeew! Had me worried there for a moment brah. :haha: I think the legs could use a little more definition. Its coming together quite nicely, keep going.

nice model and scuplt
Nice done so far. However, your overall composition on the anatomy looks a little stiff. Use transpose to accentuate the pose a little bit more. This should look pretty good once you are finished!

Thanks guys but I'm not gonna go too crazy with the sculpting because of my time frame. So after I do the chains on the forearms i will lay da base color scheme down in zbrush and then fine tune it in Photoshop I might do a simple pose (maybe the one from my concept)
