Well this contest looks like it might be fun, and I've got time to burn these days, so figure I'll give it a shot. For the subject I've picked Johnny Test from the cartoon by the same name that airs on Nickelodeon.

Pick of the character from the TV show:

And my mesh will be based primarily around a variation of the character that appears for slightly less then 3 seconds in the episode 'Johnny to the center of the earth'.

Here's what I've done so far. Its a sculpt in zbrush with some quick poly painting. Bottom half still needs work before I start the retopology.

I'm considering giving the over shirt buttons and maybe a belt for the pants, though neither of those elements exist in the source design. Thoughts?

Nice! You nailed the style. Rock the buttons, the belt, some straps, bracelets, whatever, have some fun. Forget being "true to the source" that's only a jumping off point, you've gotten everything you need from the source already, time to make it your own.

And to be honest, the original design being intended for drawn animation is really really simplified, almost boring as far as the details go.

Excellent start, can't wait to see more, and interesting choice as well.

EDIT: Welcome aboard sir, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Wow, nice job brah, it looks like you are in the lead so far (in my opinion). If or when you do the clothing detail this piece will be super bad-ass and also I agree with (Warlock) go ahead and add those accessories, you've captured the essences of the character so you should go ahead with your creative freedom, but don't go to crazy. Good Luck

Agree with everything Warlock said. The model is looking really nice here - way too good for Johhny Test:) I've seen that show; it's the latest in a long line of Cartoon Network's blocky, flat, "I can't really draw but I'm making a cartoon anyway" kinda thing:D However, as much as it nails the design they have for a female Test in the intro to the show, you gots to change it up a bit man. We're all artists here, so get creative! As long as it still says "Johnny Test, but female" you've succeeded. Wanna see more though, so keep it up!

Thanks guys, glad you like it :)
I'll probably post an update sometime tomorrow.

VinsanityV20: Well I'm adding a bunch of accessories, and changing a few things to make the design more interesting sense, as Warlock 279 said, the cartoon version is a bit too boring detail wise. So no worries, it wont be an exact replica.

That's a nice clean high poly model. I hope the low poly model will retain that.
