I don't think target weld has a shortcut by default, might be wrong tho.
If it has one I doubt it would be shift+ctrl as you would go into target weld
everytime you wanted something else that had shift+ctrl+any other key as a shortcut.

Target Weld Mode Shift + Ctrl + W
Weld Selected Ctrl + W
Weld Target Mode Alt + W
Texture Vertex Weld Selected Ctrl + W
Texture Vertex Target Weld Ctrl + T
hope it works and helps

thanks alot it will help.
Do you know how to set up hotkeys in the custom user interface.
ive tried to assign new shortcut keys to the weld target weld mode.
Ive removed the default setting and replaced with a custom setting, but nothing is replaced.
Customise user interface>edit polymode>
selected target weld mode > removed default setting
assigned new setting> ctrl + \
then nothing is replaced.

hmm seems to me that you've done all you could - but then again i don't have any valuable experience in 3dsmax so i wouldn't know why he won't accept your new assign keyboard shortcuts...
pressing assign button should do it.

is the keyboard shortcut override active?
it's on the main toolbar and probably looks like a key(on the keyboard) - not sure, i use the simple buttons
anyway - turn it off, your assignments will work then

Thanks for the reply guys that has seemed to make a difference;however; there is still a problem with the target weld mode . For some strange reason when i press "CTRL W" i activate the field of view. I have checked the editable poly short cut default Keys "CTRL W".
what can be activating the target weld mode then? .
Do you know any rapidshare links for
the tutorials by Grant warwick, which appeared on Digital Apprentince.
Its a shame i hope they still appear on the new website , I just learning some good advice

Thanks alot
Scroll to Target Weld (Poly) (if you have it on mesh or w.e that will be the reason it's not working) - Ctrl+w in the box, hit Assign, close dialogue and now it magically works.
By default Max auto saves all hotkeys so you only need to save the file if you intend to use it on another computer.
Occasionally the hotkeys don't work if you use Edit Poly opposed to Editable Poly as it points to a different set of hotkeys, think they fixed this in 2009/2010 though. Have mine on X and works in both, even on top of a primitive.
