Its kind of the weapon a dwarf commander would carry...killing many orcs in one bow..And I too suck at story telling ^^
So here is my reference image

This is what i have after 60 minutes...
So blades are missing, and as much details as possible!

Very nice indeed, lovely sketch there, and great detailing so far :)
03-11-2009, 03:06 PM
very good start!

Good start indeed.

Looks great so far. This should come out great looking.
03-11-2009, 05:16 PM
thanks guys ;)
My modelling time is now over. Couldnt add as much detail as i wanted..but i hope it suffices. I will make an ambient test render now. So enjoy

After some Rendertime....Now i have to start texturing...which will take a while.
looks really good mate.
is it for slaying or does the top rotate, that would be totally wicked if it did. ?
04-11-2009, 08:32 AM
Yeah the top rotates. -> So there will be a mess ;)
Starting on the textures today. Lots of fun ahead
04-11-2009, 10:13 AM
some first texture test..Currently working on the base metal, it still doesnt look right, right!
04-11-2009, 10:22 AM
It feels more like...stone, but looking so good though.
04-11-2009, 10:25 AM
On a sidenote, most orcs have black blood. At least in the Tolkieniverse.
04-11-2009, 10:28 AM
I like it, looks good; when doing metal i suggest paying extra attention to highlights, a lot depends on it.
04-11-2009, 10:49 AM
I have some cool metal maps if you want. all scratched and stuff.
04-11-2009, 11:03 AM
Thanks for the input!
@DaddyDoom, yeah would be awesome!
05-11-2009, 01:01 PM
After a lot of texturing and playing around with shaders I have my Final version ready..Thanks for the input all!
I´m considering of doing another entry, I´m thinking of somthing orcish ;)
"The threedy uploader is currently not working. Using third party uploader now"
So what do you think of the composite?
Time used for modeling: Full 120 minutes
Time used for rendering: 14 minutes
Time used for texturing and compositing: 240 minutes
Software used: Maya and Photoshop
I love it!!! awesome texture work
you have done a beautifull job @ texturing. a really bad a$$ weapon ready to kick some evil butt :D
06-11-2009, 08:43 AM
Now i have a question, Should we make for every entry a new Thread, or continue in this one?
06-11-2009, 08:52 AM
Sikes opened 3 different threads, so I guess we have to do the same?
Nice model and texturing! Don't ya went crazy doing that waves that fill the blade? :D
06-11-2009, 09:20 AM
great job done.
06-11-2009, 09:36 AM
Yeah these waves were the most time consuming.. ;)
Ok then I will open my next entry now!

nice entry i like the way you did those details,
though i still have troubles myself with making those meshes that intersect themselves,
i know its vital for nice low poly models, but still it doesnt look right to me ;)
06-11-2009, 12:10 PM
> good luck!
06-11-2009, 12:39 PM
I didnt get that rachel, which intersecting parts?
