Going for a future/old mix for this guy (the seal was broken after a few thousand years - people carried on with their traditions, utilizing technological advances as they developed.)
Planning on some sorta big lance/javelin type of weapon.
Still roughing out the silhoutte.
The name is taken from an old english poem.

mastein, M_Cederstrom: thanks, fellas. Kinda does now don't it?:D
paulius-st: thanks, man. Orfeo. Orpheus isn't bad either but I like the other name...
Kinda slow on this, but lowpoly's done and unwrapped. Some things may be added/removed during high poly phase so it's a rough 9700. Planning on the interior of the cloth being a different texture, more tris coming that way, as well.

Oo!:xyz::max: good polyflow Jo! love it king!
I hope that you are going to decorate the armour in the good way!
swords appear to me a little short but it's perhaps only an impression of my part...

Nice low poly model! Are you planning to sculpt him? His fingers might be too thin for his build. Good job though.

Looks good so far. The skulls are looking a little dense poly wise compared to the rest of the mesh, but if you're on budget you're on budget so, carry on. I like the design of the spear/lance weapon.

Looking solid Joe. I agree with Warlock (as usual) about the skulls. They have very little silhouette so they don't need that much detail. I would transfer that detail to the shoulder pads or something.
The buckles could also be done totally with normal maps.
I generally like big meaty hands, so I think yours look a bit small and thin.
Great progress so far! I'm sure this will turn out great in the end.

chris_solo: thanks, mate; the good way is what I'm hoping for:D
Identity3d: I shall try...
silent_fox: thanks. Planning on using max for highpoly mostly with zbrush for the cloth bits and his head, maybe hands.
Warlock 279/Buzzy: thanks, fellas...
trimmed up the skulls for about 500 tris(yuk...zbrush retopo is nice but I tend to overdo it) -- thickened up the hands, mainly fingers.
- abit jaggy(still some cleanup to do), mainly due to the small amount of texture space given to each, but this is probably closer than they'll ever be seen in a render

- around 9200 tris --

Weapons look good. Can we see them without wires?
Did you ever get my shaders to work?

SR_6274: thanks, man - I hope so.
pogimonz: thanks. Highpolys done in max.
Buzzy: No, I didn't - not on my computer anyway. I had them going on my brother's better comp. but he switched to windows 7 and it wiped out max and I haven't bothered to reinstall... Now that I've got to mess with DX mats I feel a bit like I'm missing a toe.
...wasn't happy with how jagged the bakes came out so I did them all again with much better results.
Just resized the uv chunks to as large as possible then scaled down in PS. Time to move on...
