View Full Version : dgeges - Dragon's Lair
Hello everyone !
Nice subject, I really like it !
For now, i'm still searching... And I do a first speed sketch yesterday. I'm not really convinced by the composition, so I'll do other sketches.

Thank you everyone !
I don't know yet... So I did another sketch :

If you can make a matte painting out of the fire one, it would turn out epic :) But I reckon you should start asap, making realistic lava environment is quite hard.
Thank you everyone ! And yes, I will do the lava one, but with some changes. I begin tonight to have enought time.

I too like the Mount Doom one. nice feeling.
Hi !
this is an update.
I work with a larger format and black border, because i put first the perspective normally and after i'll rotate.
I changed a little bit the sketch too to have a better composition.

Coming along very nicely, I can picture the lava stream going toward the camera and light up all the rock on the way. Its going to make for a very strong composition!
Thanks Matellis !
New update, I have still lot of work.... As you said Tiberius, it's very hard the lava environment, but I like challenges ! ;)

nice wips, even better final image. looked at your web site... how many man hours are usually involved in the process of creating matte painting, without the initial concept idea?

dont forget to post it under final images thread :)
Did ! And Tiberius, I want to know if we can post 2 images ? Because I'm thinking I changed a lot the mood, but maybe, if I have time, I will do another one on this one just to change it on a very strong epic lava one ?
rocneasta, I took like 10 hours to make it without the sketch. You can see a video of the wip on this link: http://www.vimeo.com/7740623
