Subject – The Lonely Soldier

http://www.3dtotal.com/articles/forum_challenge/images/deathstrike_01.jpg

Thread Naming: Your Name – The Lonely Soldier
Keep all questions in this thread

Topic: The Lonely Soldier

Idea: The skies have darkened, the horizons are burning red. Oceans are drying up, counties are falling apart. The world is coming to and end and you are on your own. Unable to trust anyone, you must watch your own back. But you won’t let any of that stop by from surviving these rough times. Equipped with your weapon of choice, you fend for yourself and deal with anyone that may get in your way.

You are a lonely Soldier.

Requirements:

Your job if for this challenge is to depict what a lonely Soldier would look like when the world is in its last moments. The mood is up to you, but any viewer should be able to look at your image and tell what’s going on. Sketches are fine for your works in progress, but the final image needs to be fully rendered.

Deadline:

Sunday 11:59 pm (GMT) January 3rd (use the time zone thread to make sure you’re done in time).

Deliverables:

All entrants are required to provide the following in the final entry:
• A work in progress (WIP) sheet
• A final image

WIP Sheet:

A WIP sheet is a compilation of images showcasing your creative process, from the initial sketches to the final image.

Final Image Sizes:

For the judging stage we will accept submissions as .JPG files at 72dpi – screen resolution – at approx. 800-1000 pixels wide. All submitted images must, however, be available in print resolution: 300dpi – print resolution – at approx. 3000-4000 pixels wide, or above. In case you win, you may be featured in 2dArtist Magazine.

Restrictions

-All images, including concepts, sketches, 3D assets, etc. must be made specifically for this contest.

-No teams or groups – everything must be made by one person.

-Keep gore and nudity to a decent level, no explicit scenes.

-Winners may be asked to cooperate in an interview about themselves and their work, and provide detailed ‘making of’ articles accompanied by high-resolution work in progress stills for 2DArtist Magazine after the competition.

-You must create a W.I.P thread to show your work in progress

Judging:

Will start with public vote to decide the top 10, then a private panel will come together to choose the top 5 placements.

Just to clarify:

This is no longer "Speed Painting", correct? The only time restraint here is the deadline?

Yeah. Too much life going on can get in the way of fun sometimes. Especially when that fun has deadlines.

Time isn't an issue this time though. There will be an entry even if it's a scribble on a napkin. :D

Is it possible to combine 2D and 3D about the character?

are you saying you want to draw a character, then model him? That's a great idea.

...No, I think I expressed myself badly, in fact, I wanted to make a 3D base to transform it into 2D painting, an example that I made
you can see the animation of the construction of the image at this address
http://www.christiangonnelle.fr/decompose.htm

anyway I started in 2D and I would do anything in 2D there are no mistakes have

Does the Character in this one have to be Human? Or can we go off world with it?
Eg. End of the world but not Earth some other world?

Many thanks

It's soldier or solider?

I can see it now; Look out Nick Fury's Howling Commandos, here comes Big Toe's Solider Soldiers! Dishing out soldier-like justice in a state so solid, that gasses and liquids have no chance.

I'll put this one aside in case a comic book challenge ever comes up.:haha:
