The Dutchies start having children at a very late age, because of this one out of five dutch women are having trouble getting pregnant.

Well it isn't, but it could fullfill the function, as did sci-fi art a couple of years ago for you and me. Unfortunately, as it goes when you use products not the way they were meant to be used, the search results weren't entirely satisfactory. ;) :D

Well, the scaring part worked, I'm still shivering under my desk... :(
You're welcome...
If you can hit that little piece of paper at 25 mtrs with a high-caliber pistol, for me that's 'bullseye'! Do you do that a lot, shooting on the range? Nice hobbies you have, I've seen pictures of swords, crossbows, guns... You must be very affraid for those 'evil persons', considering the amount and variety of weapons you handle...:???: :)
I'm not really into the distant combat, but close combat is another thing. I still want to take some lessons in stick-fighting and brazilian or israelian army-combat. I'm not that agressive (really!), but those things intrigue me in some way or the other. Maybe just like weapons intrigue you?
J.
Sessy

Weapons intrigue me... but as soon as I'm a little better (I'm better enough to do dancing nowadays - two years ago at my worst I could barely walk down a hospital's hall without being exhausted afterwards) I'm gonna join some.. I dunno self-defence or something club or something.
I'd like to learn to fight like... well like disarming people who come on to you with a knife, and beating people who aren't armed long enough to run away.
The two desires have different origins however. I enjoy weapons in a similar way as I enjoy music and plants and some art.
The self-defence I want because I've had a very unpleasant encounter with a guy while cycling to school once (I got off with a fright, but it could have ended worse) and next time I'd like to be able to defend myself at least some suppose that it gets out of hand. I'm not agressive. Flight would absolutely stay strategy #1, I'd just like to have a backup plan to it.

A bonnet is a type of hat (read Jane Austen for innumberable references.
This is a bonnet: http://apcsa.free.fr/bonnet.jpg
So is this: http://www.surprisesomeone.com/thumbnails/sml_kWinslet_sense.jpg
You're right about the suit and a tie, but of course you'd never actually understand the charmes of such, seeing as that the only thing close to one that you'll ever wear was that white little robe your mom used to put on you when taking you to church. I'm sure you looked cute in it, but that's not the type of cute I'm looking for.

Well, 'wanting somebody' sound kind of posessive to me, so I say I'd be glad if Sessy wanted to be a friend of mine... ;)
I wear all kind of things, got three full suits in my closet (and I wear them a few times every week), but also some ragged jeans, and some things in between those extremes. I look VERY handsome in an two piece Armani with a handmade venetian shirt, nice silk tie and sunglasses on. And yes, I can tie my tie myself... :)
Using Photoshop in the way you described, is a way of communicating feelings and emotions, just like any form of art is. I don't think it's up to you to decide for somebody else if this is mature or childish behaviour... :grr:
By the way, ClaWda, did you already post some pictures of yourself in this thread? Please give me the pagenumbers they are on, so I can check YOU out! :ufo:

Intelligent good boys don't cheat on their girlfriends. Those who do, sooner or later find their house burned down, and their music instrument used for firewood. ;)
Unless, of course, they get married first, in that case they find themselves divorced, house and car belonging to wife, and alimony payments eating up most of their paycheck. So careful ;)

Ah, normal subjects, cool!
So you're not realy a piano player, but a keyboard player... Ah well, as long as it's working for you... I own a Yamaha U-3 upright, but I haven't got the room for it now so it's at my parents' who live a 150 km's away from me... Shame, I haven't got the chance to play that much now, I'm getting rusty. Sometimes I have a go at my guitar, but it isn't the same... *sigh*
And about the cheating thing: Don't you think you'd better tell a girl honestly what you expect from a relation, in the beginning already? You might not get you what you want instantly (we all know what boys want), but it will save you a hell of a lot of trouble along the road. Always ask yourself what the girl is feeling if she is really in love with you, and you cheat...

Only cowards and scumbags cheat.
Any man with balls would call off a relationship if he felt it wasn't going to work. And would definately call it off before he even contemplates cheating.
Just my opinion.

Well, maybe (just a tip) you could try to place yourself into the position of the people you're talking to/posting with... I mean, you're probably not very different than the rest of us, why should you state that we are a bunch of pittyfull losers who spent their time behind screens (and therefore getting a nice electro-tan).
If somebody was to say that concerning you, you'd probably jump in just as fast and hard as we do. The one to blame is the person who didn't take in account the feelings of the other person(s) in the first place.
Before you know it you can start a flame-war. I haven't been around that long, but from older posts I get the idea that you've been expelled once for just those reasons. You've had your time to think about it, and the posters on threedy had the time to calm down.
Yes, you have a reputation now, but people are mostly willing to forgive as long as you don't make the same mistakes. It's in your own hands now, you decide on how to treat people. Snappy comments may seem funny, but you don't know backgrounds of people, and some of those same comments could hurt people quite severely.
For example: If I would be gay (which I'm not, but that's beside the case), I would be very offended by your words. If Sessy would have a problem with relations, she would be offended by your words. If EF has some problems in his social life, he might be offended... It might not be of any concern to you, because we're living far far away, and will probably never see you, but I bet if you think about it, it doesn't give you a good feeling to hurt people intentionally, though indirect.
Alway think before you write. What does the reader experience? If he or she posts back, what will they say? If you get to know persons better, know their backgrounds, you can always make fun of them, and you know that they won't mind, that's more than OK.
There should be plenty of fun, but not on account of somebody else.

dude seriously, give me a break
you just gave me a lecture on god knows how many topics, I ****ed up with the girl I know, I don't need your words of wisdom afterwards, I make mistakes, more than most but I learn, so you telling me to be honest with a girl, haha, dude no offence but do you know ANYTHING about me?
do you know what I told my girlfriend the instant I met her?
do you know what I did the same night I cheated on her?
do you know what I'm doing right now to fix this whole mess?
the answer is no, so my suggestion to you is take your own advice, it's easy to hear a guy cheating on his girl and then judge him, there's often more to it, you triggered me right now but hopefully don't take any of this as negative, I'm doing my best to keep my temper cause what you are doing is really unfair
And btw I don't have any room for a real piano, so a keyboard will have to do, does that make me a keyboard player?? I learned on a piano, performed on stage with a piano, play for people on pianos, but I practice on a keyboard
Finally, I never make jokes on anyone's account, I talk back, there's a difference, and all that talk about hurting people's feelings, come on, I read stuff like that all the time in threedy, but since it's not coming from me, why bother paying any attention?
chris this is a discussion, I haven't said anything to flame and I'm sure joey B agrees
Joey B
03-12-2004, 04:44 PM
@chris: Yeah, this is just a semi-serious discussion. If we start flaming you may ban us… :D
@clawda: Nop, I don’t know what you’re doing and what you’ve done, but, then again, it was a general advise. I DO know that you said you were not in love with her anymore. Well, for that part I’d have to agree with Honki, even that is no reason to cheat. And what do you feel when you turn the scores around? If your girl would’ve cheated on you the way you did on her now (whoevers’ fault it might be), how would you feel, and who would you blame? It’s also easy to say people may not judge you, but do you judge yourself, and if yes, do you do it before you make a mistake or afterwards? And do you make sure for yourself it doesn’t happen again?
Anyway, cheating is never an option, (If I made the rules but I haven’t) but it’s good you’re trying to fix things up now.
I didn’t say a keyboard was bad, I just said you play a keyboard now instead of a piano. Man, I’ve played keyboards and electrical piano’s, what’s the big deal? If you had room for a piano, what kind of piano would you like? I’ve bought mine at an auction, there were the most expensive grand piano’s (steinway, bosendorfer a.s.o.). Not that I could afford one, but they just didn’t sound right anyway… When we were almost done I saw this one I have now standing somewhere in a remote corner, I played it and was instantly in love…
Stuff you read here might not come from you, but I think you were banned for a reason (however silly that reason may sound to you), so why not learn from that? If it’s just Threedy, OK, maybe we are all ****ers here, but if you hear it from other sources also, start thinking… Just as I said in the beginning of this post, what do you do to prevent those things from happening again? You post here again, so I assume you like it here. Why risk getting kicked out again? It might seem that the whole forum is against you, but hey, if it’s the whole forum, isn’t it possible they have a point somewhere?

As far as I can see, it means that she is very wise to be married already, and she makes me whole?
The indonesian blood is in her family for a long time now. Her father immigrated from Jakarta to the netherlands when he was a kid, and his family was already in Indonesia for about 3 generations... his granmother was indonesian I think, his father Dutch... (during the colonistic period, that is.)
My wife is completely 'Dutch', but she likes indonesia because some of her roots are there, and because there is a big community of Indo people in the Netherlands she knows many people with more indonesian blood in their veins.

Hmm that roadsign is at many airports as well - they're anti-rape parking places. They're brighter (more lamps), closer to the target, and better guarded.
As for that photo, those sharp teeth in the corners look verrrrrry dangerous ;) See attached picture.

This whole cheating-topic will be dropped now. Period.

I'm not very fond of those signs - or the concept behind them - either. Instead of highlighting some parking areas and making them more secure (video cameras etc.) this should be done to all parking spaces. Would make more sense to me.

Yes, they do. Rightfully too, afterall breaking a law must sanctioned. I'm more critical about the sugar-coated discrimination that lies within the whole practice of "parking for women".

Not that I know of. Walter parked at the airport in the women's zone and nobody did fine him (there were plenty of other spaces in that lot left though) and there were some other cars there that I doubt women drove.

As for rape, I think men are less susceptible to it actually. First of all, men are stronger, second of all they're taller and usually heavyer too. That's a clear advantage, because rapists are looking for a weak target (there was this whole study I read whiles ago, said rape wasn't even about sex but about power and anger and such).
But I do agree it's discriminating women. I think all parking lots should have camera security and good lamps though.

For a while over here we have had special parking spaces for expecting mothers...
Soon we will segment the entire parking lot into little lots where only a very specific kind of person can park.
"oh, 28 year old hispanic with a red car... hmm lets see that would be section b8!"

True Sassy, but there is one aspect that is not considered when looking at the susceptibility of men in rape. What if the woman is older - like twice the guys age (I know of such cases with young teenage male victims). What if the woman is the guy's boss. And then there is the thing of male honor. No man will admit he has been raped - unless he is prepared to get his honor bruised some - and believe me it is a BIG deal.
It turns out that in the U.S. men are domestically abused by their wives more than the other way around. But what guy would go even to his best friend weeping that his wife beat the crap out of him....
I think manhood is on the verge of becoming extinct and men are being stigmatised as the evil ones in a bid to save women - like in special parking for women. I don't know but that's what I think....If you think I am a lost sheep please enlighten me... :)

No, I was talking of rape in the context of these parking lots, the chances of a man getting dragged into one of the cars and raped there versus the chance of the same happening with a woman.
That's what they were built to prevent, not office ones.

As for the position of men in this society, go to Russia, there getting laid by the boss is part of a secretary's job description and women in reality make about half of what men do (in theory they make equal). But you wouldn't want to live there. Because you read nearly daily in the newspaper that men jumped under a train, off a bridge, got shot trying to rob a bank, because they felt useless and not even a man because they weren't able to provide for their family and their wives had to do that and because of that they didn't feel male.
That's why I think emancipation is in a man's best interest as well.
Karikoga
04-12-2004, 07:28 PM
I see...
But men also need protection as much as women. It may not just be against rapists...
Karikoga
04-12-2004, 07:42 PM
...and AMEN to that.
First of all emancipation from what?
Just goes to show that put in the same position women are just as bad as men. I would not be surprised if women start jumping on men in parking lots, even if the camera is watching, juss coz the guy can't do anything about it on the legal front and it would be free entertainment for security personnel.
My point is there is no need to genderalise the whole issue, make women think there are men are out to get them. Everyone is at risk....

Well then you'll be pleased to hear in italy they're opening a house to stay in for free for men who are divorced and had to leave the house to the wives and pay alimony...
(I do hope actually paying the alimony is one of the requirements - I was reading a design for a future law and parliament history to it, apparently, only 43% of the women who should be getting alimony on their kids from dad actually get any... and not all of them get as much as they should either....)

I don't think you got my point Kari. In Russia, women are under the men's position. In every way. That's because there's 90 million women and only 60 million men in Russia. The concept of intramarital rape isn't recognized, women work in women's jobs (secretaries, nurses, teachers), and if they wanna make enough to live off they're gonna have to sleep with their boss. Yearly around 60 000 women get killed by their husbands (56 000 last year) in an "accident" while their husband is beating them up - he didn't mean to kill her, just beat her up. How many get beaten I don't even want to know, nobody actually knows, but there's a saying in Russia that if a husband beats you, he loves you. (yeah right.)
Women do the household chores, and often work next to that as well.
And still, it's not making men happy. They jump under trains all the time as well. Because such a traditional system is also a strain on a man: he's gotta make the money. And if he doesn't, he's not a man.
Which is why I'm saying, it's in the best interest for men to support emancipation as well. Because if they don't, they've gotta be damn sure they're gonna be able to make a lot of money, and definately not every man's got what it takes. Some men just make better stay-at-home-dads.
Karikoga
04-12-2004, 08:01 PM
...In that case Russian men sure have issues. You know in Botswana if a man beats up his wife he is taken to the chief where he is lashed in public. So men don't indulge in wife beating - but then there is a backlash to this - the women are very promiscuous coz they know they are untouchable...
While I am here I might as well post one of myself with some newly found friends taming the mountains of Bulgaria..

See, that doesn't work either. Emancipation needs to go both ways. The way I see it, emancipation means, that, if a woman wants to work and her husband wants to do the household and take care of the kids, that is their RIGHT. It's also their right if the woman wants to take care of the kids and the husband wants to work. Theyr RIGHT. She's not oppressed, she's choosing it. There's no rule that says women have to work to be a good modern woman. There's no rule that says men have to work either if their wife wants to work instead and they want to take care of the house.
Emancipation of women in terms of equal pay, equal job opportunities, things like kindergarten, enabling women to work, etc. But also emancipation of women in terms of when a husband stays home and his wife works and he's taking care of the house and kids, that nobody acts weird about it. I know two such families actually, and in both people react very negative to the situation, type "are you gay or something?". That has to stop too.
Karikoga
04-12-2004, 09:01 PM
You are absoutely right there that emancipation includes freedom of choice but apparently society is not that nice. I am just a little disgruntled with this "emancipation" thing, coz usually the bad deeds of one man tends to be spread out to the rest of us. What started off as a search for freedom is turning out to be a war on men.
Emancipation is supposed to be aimed at equality and not separate but equal - like let's say for parking space...You can also see this with the AIDS issue on World AIDS day a few days back. People rush to teach women to say NO but forget to teach the guy to respect that NO so what's the point?
Batman laying seige to Buckingham palace just coz Batgirl would not let him see his wee little Batlings.
As long as "emancipation" is onesided less is acheived. And it should not degenerate to men vs women - coz as much as there are men out there that tread upon their women, there are women out there who want to compete with men at being men - and usually it is these 2 sides that runsack the cause and cloud the whole issue.

Oh, but it's just a specific kind of Germans who do that... They are very overweighted, having a beer belly the size of the Matterhorn, they wear little fisherman's hats and have the red sunburns that tell you somebody put on his tank-shirt too long. Furthermore they wear dark reflecting sunglasses from the year 3 B.C., they listen to 'Schlagermusik' all day long, drink loads of Heineken and Bavaria and talk way too loud...
You also have a Dutch version of this, which can be spotted on numerous beaches in France, Spain and Turkey.
The rest of the German and Dutch people are very polite (offcourse), and adorable like puppies...

Yeah, but considering there are no inner borders in the European Union between member countries (such as Germany and the Netherlands) and the money Euro is in all the member countries and most the countries are actually tiny, it's not a problem at all.
It'd have been more of a problem if he was from the Netherlands' north than if he is from where he's now.
It's kinda like if he was from Indianapolis in Indiana and I was from Cincinnati in eh, Ohio it is, isn't it? That's translated in American terms. Two different states, but that's no problem, is it? Well same here in Europe.
Except in our case the distance was even less than between those two cities.

Hey, you wear your watch on the inside of your wrist... You're not a sniper or a commando, are you?! :D
I used to wear it that way, but wearing a watch was irritating me so much that I took it off completely. Even though I'm right-handed I wear it on the right, everytime I moved my mouse it was clicking against the table. How annoying...
I suppose I could wear it on the left, but that doesn't 'feel' ok... Ah, what the heck, I have a clock on my cellphone.
j.
Sessy
08-12-2004, 07:03 PM
Actually the reason is very easy. I wear it that way around so that when I type, the wrist doesn't hang in the air but is resting on the watch, the watch fills the space between the table and my wrist, especially when I use my laptop, which I do at school and in the train nearly daily. Ergonomical, isn't it? :D
Additionally, this way around the button you press and pull to change time doesn't get stuck on clothing and my watch doesn't stop suddenly.
