well, change of plans, because I'm a mod and can't win anything, I will be making something that will be more fun to model and look at with only me in mind. It will go into the portfolio, but I wont get me a job and I need one.

New idea, half naked lady, big fan of sniper rifles. Keeps face covered, helps with focusing on target. I'll have to come back to the angry man with too many teeth at some other point in time.

started with her mask. The plane is to get the low poly mesh done by the end of the weekend if I want to this done in time.

Man, you always seem to start with something memorable, Toe. I remember when you started your big Elephant thing for that one comp, or your Ponytail Samurai. You had some cool ideas for their head - resulting in some very memorable silhouettes for those guys - and it seems your streak continues.

That is a very cool looking mask. Immediately says, "wasteland" to me, yet doesn't ripoff typical gas masks or that armored guy from Fallout or something. Me likey:D

Looking cool, You know with the gun, Are u going to model that up to a high res one in 3ds max or maya or what ever you are using then bake the textures? But if you do that how do you incorperate that into one big map with everything....if you know what I mean?

well as the model is right now, every part of the mesh is seperate. But when it comes time to texture, unwrap, I'll just select any mesh, pop on into editable polly, go down to the attach option, click it, then click on everything. This will make everything one selectable item. From there I will unwrap. Everything will be on one texture sheet.

After the unwrap is done. I will collapse the stack (right click on the top modifeir in the stack, collapse to). This will save the uv unwrap info to the mesh. I can then use the element option in editable polly to select parts of the mesh that I want seperate and detattch them.

So you using a the big overally texture map (diffuse etc) for each indivdual part so you will have a seperate material for each part but still using the big diffuse map for example?

its one texture map for everything.

added more "inner thigh" don't want to add too much, it will take away from the haven't eaten in a while look I'm going for. Also changed the gun from a normal sniper rifle to more of an energy rifle.

This entry is lookin' boss, Toe! The girl's got style, that's for sure (and if Tank is right, and you're into doing another nice hairstyle, I love the silhouette). Also, that oversized, almost-anime-style cannon/rifle is badass as hell!

First off - WHOA dude! That is one eye-catching design, either way:) I just clicked on the page 3 link and BAM! some instant, crazy awesome character renders. Gotta love it - she definitely stands out man!

Secondly, I say the second. Simply because the mask is white and one of the colors in her scheme is white. It works with that.

Very cool model, Toe!

Can I ask u something? are u allowed to model just two legs for example (a pair of legs even) and only make one uv space for them? If that makes sense?

yep.

you can do that for the whole model if you wanted to.

when your done modeling and your happy with what you got and you know your not going to need one part of the model to be different from the other half. You can just delete out half the model, then unwrap what is left. Then after your done unwrapping, just copy the mesh over. Now you have a full model thats unwrapped.
