I'm going for the classic imminent giant wave hits big city image. Here are 4 initial studies. I think I'm going for the one in the lower right.

I love the bottom 2 they all have awesome perspectives, looking forward to your entry.

The top right could be quite interesting too. I wonder of this entry will turn on, last one was awesome. :)

Wow! Another awesome work...I loved the 2 studies of the right, the're powerful with all that depth and perspective!

Looks like we're going to see another Day after tomorrow =D Maybe you could make a fictional city, or a city not being New York =D Just a suggestion...

Keep it up!!

I like the lower right best. the wave look really ominous towering above us. Nice start!

the right 2 images all show the height of the water the best. If you want to give the feel of a towering wall of water, those two do that the best.

hi Andreas, cool concepts. I agree the lower right definalty has a more dramtic feel to it with that camera angle, but i'm liking the top right more as i think that would work better as an image :D

Thanks for the comments guys. Ultimately, I think I am going for the lower right one. It may not be the most easily readable, but I think it's the one that draws the viewer in the most.
Here is the final concept. Matte painting from here...

Thanks, guys. The problem will be to translate the energy of the concept into the final matte. Here is another update. I think that now the concept is defined. I introduced more aerial perspective, accentuated the lights-shadows and finally tilted the canvas to make the scene more dynamic.
(I just noticed that when using the "Manage Attachments" the image is reduced by one pixel and gets slightly blurred. I'll use my webspace from now on)

Hi,

Andreas, lower right is the best choice.
Seein something big from underneeth it, makes the thing look even bigger.

WHOAH! I been working on my mattepainting that I missed this one! AMAZING work man! Why have you not posted this on the final threads? this should be in there since I love the way you painted this. It truly is in the heart of the traditional mattepainting. Thumbs UP!

Great camera angle and colour pallette. Very minor comment - the birds seem a bit dark and distracting.
