What's up fellas, just a place holder for my character. Not much to show so far, started on the concept for the head here is what I got so far, more to come soon. Oh it's gonna be an alien, that much I know :).

glad you like it, yeah the character can be either human or non-human just not a robot if I recall from what Toe said on the main thread.

I like the boots, are you going to add some hard surface geometry to that? Like buttons, buckles perhaps? I see you've used some of the pre-set alphas for that already, I just think it looks neater using hard surface personally. Nice start though :)

Ihazard: yeah the buttons are made with the pre-loaded alphas in zbrush, this is not the final stage for the boots I'll put more stuff on them. Glad you like them.

not really much of an update, just playing around with some ideas that came to mind the tank wasn't really in my plans to make but it might be something that could work.
I need some feedback from you guys on it!!!

hey man, see heres the thing... the back canister has to go, not that it looks bad. its just so many people are doing them :(. i have something like that too but now im going to scrap the idea and do something different or change the design. you have some time to change it if you want, best of luck buddy.......................o IMHP lol

At first, I would have to agree about the canister, that it has to go. But then I catch myself, no... it breaks up all the solid gray in the middle of the base color pass, it does a great job adding to the silhouette and overall has great potential.
I think the big thing to look at is although the back canister is showing up a lot, it doesn't matter how many people are doing it, what matters is how are you going to make it stick out int he crowd.
Great work so far, keep up the good work!

thank you guys so much for the input and the feedback as well for the comments, my thought about the canister wasn't to actually power up any machinery or weapon, but more as source of heat/life for the character...something in the lines of ironman per say. So, yeah I'll take all the suggestions into consideration and make the best of it, I'll post some progress soon.

alright got started testing some textures out on zbrush, first time doing it so don't know how this will turn out. If you guys have some suggestions or crits that would be really helpful this is a learning process for me.

nice one x] will he have any props? imho his back needs a bit more details, not huge muscles or smth, but some little accent maybe

I think that the rib cage looks a bit weird on the normal mapped low poly, but the guy have four eyes, so maybe some of his other parts deformed too ;P
Show us the final piece already :D
