06-01-2010, 10:51 PM

06-01-2010, 10:59 PM
Sounds like this pirate.
06-01-2010, 11:10 PM

06-01-2010, 11:18 PM
patiently awaiting some concepts.........:dunno:
07-01-2010, 12:52 AM
So I suck at concepting. Got to buy a pen tablet and practice.
07-01-2010, 03:09 AM
pen tablet will help with many things my friend :)
07-01-2010, 09:09 AM
Yep, pen tablet it's a good idea, but if you learn to draw without tablet,it will be a good base for your future CG artworks.;)

Have u been using ur mouse to model in zbrush then?
07-01-2010, 10:48 AM
Intuos3 a4 is pretty cheap nowdays considering price/performance aspect.
08-01-2010, 02:38 PM
Yes I sculpt with my 7$ mouse in ZBrush) Here's Piratos' head
08-01-2010, 03:33 PM
off to a good start man, especially for using a mouse :)
08-01-2010, 03:34 PM

08-01-2010, 10:39 PM
Thanks. Another up.
08-01-2010, 10:59 PM

08-01-2010, 11:54 PM
good style and I love the details on cloth!
16-01-2010, 05:50 PM
Don't have much time now, not sure if I'm gonna be able to finish in time
16-01-2010, 05:57 PM
dude you still got time and your progress is looking pretty damn nice. finish this up.
16-01-2010, 06:52 PM
Bah! You've got plenty of time. You've got the sculpt done, that's the hard part, everything is layed out for ya now, just gotta trace it for the low poly and paint it.
Sculpt looks pretty good by the way.

nice job so far. Either his hands are too big, or his foot is too small.
24-01-2010, 04:48 PM
Thanks. Yes I guess his boot is a little small. Will try to scale it up as I'll finish lowpoly. Here's the final highpoly.
Yesterday have received my pen tablet. Now I got to get used to. There are 2 buttons on the pen. Do you guys use your index finger or thumb to press these buttons?
24-01-2010, 07:16 PM
Looks really cool. I think the mechanical elements came out quite nice.
Switches on the pen - I use my index finger.
24-01-2010, 08:05 PM
Look cool to me:D I like the mech feet.
Its a little bit off topic, but do you think that buying a tablet is worth the price? I was thinking about buying one for concept drawing, because i suck with mouse right now:D but i don't know how it feels to look at the monitor, and draw "blindly" on the tablet.
I hope you will finish this in time!
24-01-2010, 08:27 PM
Sculpts looking mad nice! And grats on the tablet, you'll have a lot more freedom now ;)
In response to Cordero, I definitely believe that buying a tablet is worth the price. I used a mouse when I was younger, but just a year ago, started using a small wacom bamboo tablet. It really helped me improve my drawing and sculpting skills on the computer. Recently, I was given a gift of a wacom intuos4 tablet, medium size, a bit more expensive but i've improved even more. You get used to drawing blindly, it's not that bad after a few weeks of using it. There is a tablet that projects the screen on the tablet for you, but I won't get into how much that one is. :P

Well, thanks for the info TerraBite! I guess i'm off to buy a tablet now :D
25-01-2010, 03:28 AM

Thanks guys for comments. Here's the lowpoly with normals and AO.
30-01-2010, 06:25 AM
Looks good. Best make haste on the texturing tho, times a-wasting.
Edit: Make sure his pant or shirt has piratey stripes on it. Pirates like their stripes!
30-01-2010, 10:15 AM
The low poly has come out well
30-01-2010, 10:26 AM

31-01-2010, 05:27 PM

31-01-2010, 05:41 PM
Hey man! Nice final! I like the colors u have there!
You should add your WIP thread link to the final entry!! It's a must thing!
May i ask, how did you rig the facial expression of the character?
31-01-2010, 05:50 PM
i like it! realy good job :)
31-01-2010, 06:50 PM
Looks good. I think it would have been nice to see a couple different colored metals in the arm/leg, no complaints otherwise. Well done.
31-01-2010, 09:11 PM
Cordero thanks for reminding. I totally foorgot. Face rig is basic. Check out facial rig tutorial on digital tutors.
