View Full Version : SMC M#03 - noyb - All Terrain Armored Vehicle - Tank Weasel
Just doing some quick sketches at the moment.
Working out the details then I'll probably start the model on Monday.
Most of the details will come from the attached mechanicals; here's the rough idea for the body:
just by the design itself is a winner for me!!! awesome skills u got there...what program are you using there for those stketches?
thanks h2k1, I'm using sketchbook pro
this one was giving me more issues than I expected - I'm a little under 60mins in, I may consider restarting so I can have more time to detail the main body
solidworks 58min

Thanks Tarik2d, I'm using SolidWorks to model this part, I may consider switching though because it pissed me off:

Haha, don't bother, noyb, if you switch programs all you'll get is a different error screen ^^
No way of recovering your work? Anyways, great progress, keep it up!

Doesnt Solidworks support some kind of multi stepped autosave?
that way, if one corrupts, you still have 9 (less recent) files left :halo:
i use it on 3dsMax
even if you got a completely corrupted max file, often most of it can be saved by importing it into a new scene :D
I'm back on this... I got back what I could. Here's to no more problems - cheers!
Here's where I am at 1h21min total - onto the body now
start of surfacing
+35min
2h30m mark
Hopefully I won't need any more planning for the rest and I'll just finish it tomorrow morning. No more nurbs like surfacing, but I still don't think I'm on target to get everything done :(

Lol, I can't seem to follow those non-polygonal types of modelling.... They look extremely efficient, but I just can't deal with them. Nice work, shapes are coming along really nicely!
4 hours - done
I only have about 6 mins left - not enough to model the gun :(... oh well.
Now onto textures + render
my page o' wires
I think this thing is a dq since it doesn't have a gun but I'll finish it up anyway. If time is on my side, I'll make another attempt with another concept.

but the weapons are there on the side and top trap doors, that side trap door it's open and a machine gun come out and from the upper trap door an long range canon come out, i see them clear...
I love the concept and the model is so clean, and very nice render.

I agree with hammering3D's sentiment noyb. It's a very nice design and model, dont abandon this just yet. I'm not familiar with Solid Works but if it would be possible to quickly reuse the pair of suspension arms as cannons, it would complete this piece and not stress you over a dis qualification.
Thanks hammering3D and czacen. I'm not gonna worry about it, my schedule's going to get rather hectic soon, so I'm calling it done. Here are my final images, minus the wires above.
Thanks all, it's been fun
thats why i love 3d...that's purely art you got there!!! love it

but where is some weapon?))))
Thanks very much h2k1
As for the weapon, I'm going with hammering3d's suggestion; who knows the kind of destruction that can be caused by the weapons hidden within the weasel's body panels. Legends say that the last living thing that caught a glimpse of it simply vaporized at the mere sight of it... which is why I chose not to show it in the render
I may actually have time for another try... we'll see
Part of my concept for tank thing #2 - I'll make a new thread if I think I might finish it.
Great sence of style! Rly love it!
thanks Akim
Beginning again - if I get time, I'll finish it tomorrow... hopefully
Almost half of my time is already gone, I think I need to simplify the rest of it - we'll see
