Hey all!
I did some concepts, but thats the one i think i'm gone use. I'm not sure about the weapon now, maybe i'll transform his bracelets to fist weapons.
The general idea is that guy's breathing through his backpack, thats reason he has pipes from his chest to it. Maybe i will add a mask or somehting if i have some spare tris.
I hope you like it, and good luck to everyone!

one question: i was confused with the style/expression steam punk. did i got it right with this concept? because i don't want to do something which doesn't connect to the topic given.

Hey!

This is my progress so far with the base mesh. Somehow the backside of the character looks better...

I still need to add some stuff, and then i'm gonna play with this in zbrush.

Looks steampunk-ish to me. Watch your time in ZBrush, the dead-line is sneaking up.

Thanks for comment guys!

Warlock 279 : Well, thats a relief if its steampunky:D i hope the new renders are still in that style.

xxxcubanxxx : thanks! i'll surely finish this in time, i'm not sure if i'll enter at the end.

Insania : i wanted to model the inside of the watch too, but i ran out of tris... but i'll detail the surface of it i think with some lines and stuff.

So, i've finished the base mesh, i'm gonna uvw it asap, and move on to zbrush, and texturing.
I have a lot of free time now, so i'll speed up a little bit:D

Hope you like the new updates.

show us wires - you're wasting polys somewhere.

Thanks! It means a lot these days..:D

I'm almost done with uvw, moving on to textures/high poly.

you can save a ton of tris by flat mapping the fan in his chest and apply those tris to the feet or hands to help round them out a bit.

Cordero

what do you mean by flat mapping? delete the fan, and the hole for it, and just draw it on the texture? that would make it impossible to animate i think.

Hey all!

I started the sculpting process, and i was thinking about how i'm gonna do my normal map at the end, so i tried generating it from the sculpt i have so far. To my big surprise, it works fine :D

Here is my render with normal map on the lowpoly character. Now that i see it works, i gonna do all the details i wanted:D I'm sooo excited now xD

I used the built in normal map generator in zbursh. Can anyone tell me why is it better to bake it in 3dsmax?

If you were to bake in Max you get more control over how the lowpoly mesh is projected onto the Highpoly. Typically you'll need to downres the mesh before you can import it into Max though. You can also project a true AO pass inside of Max...I think Zbrush still fakes it...but I haven't baked an AO pass in 3.5r3 yet.

3dsmax 2009 just went crazy... I can't start it because it crashes at the end of the loading. I already reinstalled it, nothing changed. Can anyone tell me what is going on?:D

Cordero

Well, solved the problem.. i deleted "SceneExplorerView.gup" from stdplugs. I don't know what it does, except crashing my 3dsmax..

Well, i had enough of texturing, so i posed him in beauty/winning stance. The camera FOV is slightly modified just to bring out the weapon:D Its not final, just a progress shot... I will change the lame lightning too.

Heading back to textures now:D

Looks pretty good actually. I like the lighting atmosphere [could do with maybe a bit of a fill light, just a little]. Give those texture some more loving and this should end up looking pretty cool [even with his ridiculously square toes :p].

Cordero

I like them sure! But i'm not very strong with them at the moment, so i'm looking forward for your tutorial mate!:D

little update... still a lot to do with the textures.

I'll do a wallpaper with this:D i guess i'll be the only one using it, but still, its fun..:D

I said a touch of fill light...a TOUCH man! What happened to the moody yellow render? :p

All in all not bad. Hopefully you've now added sculpting/ZBrush to your workflow.

The face is probably the weakest bit, and probably the most difficult. Might not be a bad idea to focus on that for a quick project. Sculpt just a head, make a low poly mesh for it, unwrap it, and then texture it. It'll give you a chance to have another go at your Zbrush pipeline without getting bogged down in a whole character.

Also want to point out, its spelled "Beauty" Shot.

Cordero
31-01-2010, 11:05 AM
:D:D I'm gonna correct that misspelling :D

Head modeling it is then!
Yeah Zbrush was a whole blind area at the beginning of the comp, now i'm getting used to it. I'm gonna go crazy in the next comp when i get home on tuesday next week :D Thanks for the advices during the whole comp.
