Hi guys, been a long time since i posted in this forum. Anyway, just want some advice on how can i get a smooth render with maya either using mental ray just scanline. I just don't know how to get rid of this spots or photons in my surfaces. Posted a sample of the render. Hope someone can help. thanks much :)

I think I would probably have look at the scene file to debug that 100%, if you want to create a soft look with scanline and standard lights it's not too complicated. All you have to do is light your scene with a strong key light,a fill light roughly half the intensity, and then add lots of low intensity spot lights to simulate the bounce light.

Thanks for the kind reply McKronic, I've been experimenting a lot with the settings and with your suggestion. Hope i'm doing it right.

np, the lighting is definitely looking better in your new image. Only suggestions I have is maybe try to get some environmental reflections on your character by adding a dome with an image encompassing your scene. Also maybe play with some depth of field. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
