Humans have evolved to live with the harsh conditions left behind. The air is badly poisoned and the sun rarley makes it through the thick haze to the earth. Our mouths have evolved to form an air filter over them that opens sideways to reveal our original lips and teeth. The third eye acts like night vision and UV protection at the same time (our old eyes have grown very weak and sensative to light). There are also gills behind the ears. And the ears themselves have also formed natural filters to keep out the bad air. The atmosphere is so bad, we've taken to living in the sewers.
Just over 9 hours of work. (scroll right to see all images)
Good Luck all!

Voting Time has come!
Here's how it's going to work, initially there will be a public vote to decide the top 5 places.
To qualify for voting you must have at least 50 posts to your name or be a competitor of the challenge you are voting in (must be the same stream too, so a matte painter cant vote in speed modelling for example, unless he has over 50 posts)
Please choose your top 3, your first place gets 3 points, 2nd gets 2, and 3rd gets 1. We will use these final entry threads for public voting also.
Public voting will be open for 1 week.
Then the top 5 will be judged by a panel (to be announced) to decide the final places, this will happen during the second week of the month. winners will be announced when all the judging is final
Ok people, get voting and good luck to everyone!!

Iv watched these 3dtotal contest for quite some time and always. The voting seems unfair.
It looks to be more of a popularity contest. The post below is one from GA that I pasted here
and changed up the name walrus to someone of similar rank
here on 3d total so the point can be conveyed correctly to everyone :
Right now the best voting system in all forums is Game Artisans. Why there are
many reasons to that to me hidden votes allowed you to vote anyone’s
entry which soothe your eye instead of following other
peoples likes or dislike,
What I means is if I know which persons Freespace-3DT voted, the first thing
strikes to my mind is that Freespace-3DT is a senior Indeed his
taste of choice will be purely professional and hence instead of
what I like the most I will likely to follow Freespace-3DT votes. And if somehow I don’t followed Freespace-3DT vote
my first impression will be
that I will check those entries first which Freespace-3DT voted
then even think of going and checking other entries
thus somehow visible voting to my opinion
is not much a fair game
Thus are more advantages to hidden voting\
I know im going to get flamed for this but I know im not alone.

IntheClue:
I agree with you in 1 point. The vote could be secret.
But not cuz someone else vote will influence other votes...
In my opinion, people have to "think with their own head".
If someone is really influenced by others vote, well....i´m sorry about then. :wall:

I agree with you InTheClue. Remove the public vote even if it´s just an indication for the judges and change it so that it´s just a unbiased judging panel who decides.
This will also speed up the voting process.

InTheClue - I must agree with you...I don't think that's the most "right" way to do a voting, but sincerely, I don't think that this is should be took so seriously.
It's popular vote you know...I mean, every popular vote sistem has cheats and etc, and not always the best win. the popular should win, because its popular vote ;)
I agree with Mariano too, people should vote with his own head, but sometimes can look like, if I don't vote for my friend, he'll be angry at me...hahahahah
Well, secret is a good way to keep things more "neutral"...
so
this is my 2cents.
Anyways, this challenges are good to keep sculpting and have fun.
No big deal about winning or losing. Let's sculpt, study and get better day after day. =D
Cheers

Just to give my 2 cents,
I agree till a certain point,
I feel really honored to see my name been voted,
Words cannot describe how happy i am with this,
And wy am i saying this?
Just because i cannot be a "popular" person in here because that's my
first contest, i'm new to this forum, and the only posts i have made in this forum was in this contest threads, so i'm really honored because i feel the votes was honest and because they liked the sculpture, since no one here, that voted, had ever heard of me before,
Just my 2 cents
Best regards and good luck to all

Stoneking - for sure Fernando. I agree 100% with you...and you deserve a lot of votes....unfortunately I've been seeing the popular stuff around not just this forum, but others one too.
I was not participating for the past challenges, but I was always checking the good stuff...we had several good models not beeing voted, and others one beeing voted by the mainstream.
so, I gave my 2 cents, and now I'm off to work.
Well, congrats 3dtotal staff for the great forum you have here, all this challenges are exciting to see and participate.
I hope I can see this more and more.
now My votes.
1 - stoneking - I liked the idea, concept and the traditional feeling of the sculpture...I just think you need to get more confortable with zbrush and you'll be kicking some ass around the world. Congrats my friend.
2 - mclean - great concept so far. I loved the design and would like to see it completed and for the hole body. Nice expressions!
3 - mastein - Hey Mariano, I really digg the presentation of the model. The final render is awesome, great choice of perspective. Like I said to you before, there're some things about anatomy that I don't like at all, but great stuff.
---
Carbon-3 - man, great style...I loved the way that you pushed the digital clay, reminds me a lot of shifflett brothers sculpture style! I wish I could see this finished. The only thing is proportions...If you re-work on this and change a little would be my fav so far.
Best Regards from Brazil folks!

I've already saw this kind of thing in many forums around,
So my conclusion is, it is dificult to make the voting sistem perfect,
Popularity can even interfere in the non public votes, so it is dificult,
BTW: Many thanks for the kind words master, means a lot
So here's my votes,
1 - Mastein - The face is just outstanding, for me you and Longhi deserve first place what made me decide was the face design
2 - Longhi - Perfect anathomy, and matches the brief perfectly
3 - MClean - Very nice design and execution

You sound as if I am singling out those who are being voted for here.I have posted
this thought in every voting thread not as an act of targeting anyone but as an observation/opinion.
Sorry if I have offended anyone but I still stand by
what I have said. The voting on 3dtotal seems to be rigged and only leads me to believe that it leaves many discouraged to post
or participate on this site. For it does not
take long to realize who is seen and who is not and why these reasons are.
Just no one speaks up about it because they don't want to get flamed I feel.

Hi InTheClue,
I'm sorry if i sounded like this, it wasn't my intention
I felt your intention was the best with your opinion,
And i also think the best way to improve is through well done critique,
I was just saying that maybe "popularity" was not interfering so much in the votes,
I think it is dificult to make a perfect vote sistem, i think popularity and other things can interfere in non public votes as well,
People who act like this, which i don't agree, will fell obligated to it non public also,

I appreciate the input everyone, but let's be honest. If I vote for entries, I look at all the entries and then cast my vote. I don't look at what X and Y voted. I've got my own opinion, expectations and tastes. It strikes me as the pertinent way of doing this, and if people are doing it another way, I'm sorry.
Currently, we want the mass public to round up a top 5, and then a panel of 3dtotal judges will choose the winners in a neutral manner. If we take away public voting, some of you will be happy and another dozen users will rise up in revolt. The current system is a balanced way of mixing both aspects together.
Not to mention the rules of 50 posts + 6 months activity / enter the challenge in order for your vote to be accepted. :)
That being said, time to vote!

I agree so much with IntheClue and Longhi there about the public voting system. I'm new to this forum and I'm not one of those popular ones here. I'm reading what others are saying about this popularity voting system being unfair and I have a feeling it seems true. this does seem to be a very unfair voting system. It seems people vote for people they know or friends with.
This should be about voting for an art work that you really like and not voting for something just because that person is your friend like some people are doing I noticed. I'm not saying everyone is doing this but I notice some are this way.
If I have like 10 artists friends here in the forum that can vote and I tell them to vote for me and they did just cause they are my friends. Think about how that would be unfair to you. That's all I gotta say about this.

im not even shamelessly voting for myself on this one haha.
and to add to the pile of 2cents, i just wanted to say, that for this competition, i personally think those who seem to be doing well are the ones that deserve it. I think the system is just fine.. and I'm really glad that these challenges go on monthly.
if the votes were 100% unanimous, it seems like it would open up the possibility for people to shamelessly vote for their friends, even if its very obvious that there are many more successful entries, with out the stern looks from the community haha. although really i doubt this would happen.. i think that either way the voting would be honest. :)

I think we should vote who would be the people behind this contest. Should form a bench of judges.
Example. about some comments, wrong about who voted in either because of anatomy for instance. the idea is to vote on the idea that the artist, that if so I would be 10 hours modeling the anatomy and would not give attention to detail, style, clothes, features, ideas ....
This is what i think .... but I could be wrong ....
tenho amigos que modelam bem, e até desistiram de participar e falaram que realmente existem muitos votos de amigos

To finally clarify the voting issues, if you would all look at the winners of the last challenges, I don't think there's any question of them not deserving to be there. Even if someone gets an underserved vote, the system always balances through sheer number of votes, and the final word that the panel of judges from 3dtotal have to say. The top 3 winners are always the ones that deserve to be there. And you can't bring in your friends to vote for you because of our restrictions on users' right to vote ( post count, forum activity, entering the challenge with a pertinent final entry ).
The results so far speak for themselves. Let's take this discussion to the General Discussion area (http://forums.3dtotal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=103), if you have more to add.

ChaosDragonDZ - You make a good point Clue, GA seems to have the best voting system for these contests. I like the anonymous system rather than posting who you vote for as it sometimes seems to start a a trend in the following votes
Tarik2d - I dont think their should be a public vote, just a judgin panel who has nothing to do with any of it
D R E A M N T - I am definitely with you.The voting here is down right discouraging to be honest. So much good work put to the back of the bus.
Definitely needs to be changed.
mafida - You are 100 percent right.
TerraBite - As for the voting, I've been reading and also have thought about the voting system here. I admire the work and beautiful entries you guys finished for this challenge, I'd really like to see some certain people win of course, but I feel that this open voting system is unfair. By not voting, I feel I'm not leaving anyone out that I feel deserved a place. If the voting system were private, I'd leave my opinion then, but until that's changed, I cannot vote. I can only hope by luck now that you guys will win! Especially those of you that pushed yourselves beyond to submit a wonderful piece. Luck to everyone, and hopefully meet you again at the next challenge.

I hesitated to post because for a while I wasn`t sure about one thing. That is Mastein`s first image in the final entries thread. Now that I see some other folks mentioning it, isn`t that a render? If it is, isn`t that against the rules?
Another thing I`m curious about, how will they chose the 5 finalists if 99% of the votes go for the same 3 guys? I think this public vote should be for the first 5, not 3.
