Does anyone have a good example of where to make the seams on a normal hand?

Cordero

I suggest you to take a look at the previous year's best dominance war entries, and see how they did it. For example, Vitaly Bulgarov (http://forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=56869&page=16) merged the upper part of the hand with the forearm, leaving the seams on the palm.

The winner, Dimitry Parkin released the full model, with all textures on his website. His UVW map looks like this for the hand.

I hope it helps.

Here is my low res with just normal maps. I quickly painted his eyes, toes nail and teeth in white just to fill in the gaps for now. Comments welcome

Thanks

Nice progress, and great stuff!:D
I like the arms very much!

The inside of the ankle seems a bit weird, but it might be just the pose.

I'm curious how its going to look at the end!

Wohaaa that's hardcore. At first I thought it's a real maquette, then I thought it's highpoly and now I'm bashed cause it's freakin' lowpoly. Great Work!

good job dude keep it up, looking forward to seeing this one finished.

Also about the color, don't be afraid to throw in some colors just because it lives in the cold doesn't mean he has to be bluish and grey, doing some paint overs on photoshop always helps.

Nice progress again:D
I don't really understand some parts of the head, but i think later on i'll get them:D i think cuban is right, a bit more intensity and it will look even better.
Keep up the good and intense work!

Great model, so I'm confused a little with the head too. The texture is very pleasing to me. What kind of technique you use? You painted or used reference images? It seems painted in ZBrush.

Those toes are distracting. Not sure if its too late, but they should be changed.

I like the overall character. You have some cool stuff going on with the skin, particularly the arms. The head is very cool too, but it is difficult to decipher the mouth in that last image...maybe a different angle or pose would help.

Cheers for the comments.

I need to put the toe nails in there arent there just yet. for the head this is another view that i saved off a few days back.

hey man!

I really like the textures you have so far! The only thing that bugs me is the pose, and the feet, but as you said already it will be changed.

So, i'm looking forward on your progress, and i hope you will be able to finish this!
