bacteriophage attacking E coli

This is for my medical 3d demo, here I have shown Bacteriophages(virus) attacking and infecting E coli bacteria with their genetic material. The genetic material replicates inside the bacteria using the host cell's resources finally resulting in the rupturing of the cell wall and release of more phages.

Thanks Lars3D, I used 3ds max 2009 and AE for post with a bit of photoshop color correction.

welcome to the community. It's looking good, few adjustments with the models themselves since the some of the parts look like added poly's rather than just a part of the bacteria itself. But if this will be something you'll be working on, or there is a need for mass production that this is right up the medical ally.

Thanks rocneasta..do you mean the bacteria breaking up....? just added a bomb space wrap in 3ds max to break it up there and it unfortunately creates tris.

It looks good, but you really have to fix a few things:

-1: The DOF is weird; you have one blurred layer for the background and a totally sharp one for the foreground. Render out a z-depth layer to create some DOF over the whole composition. It will look way better.

-2: Regarding the structure of a phage you should make the RNA inside the head a bit visible. Surely not with it's structure and all details, but like some murky cloud inside.

Beside that it's really great and a very nice idea!

thanks koolnits, nop..these colors are all artistic license, usually they are so small tht color is of no significance :) will try for more ( need 2 finish off my projects 1st..u knw...)

umm..donno abt the DOf..I kinda liked this..will have a second look most surely.

abt the RNA, you caught me at that :D i forgot to add in the genetic material..doing that now for the animated scene :D
