helo every one. great chalange and i am in :) .
this picture is inspired by a Mel Bibson's movie Apocalypto. and a aztec civilisation.
The greatest gift a living creature can give to his gods is Life. this will be a sacrafictial scene. i am aiming to make a portfolio worth picture and go to the end with this one.
i am posting a concept of a main characters head. a human-like creature from the jungle.

Hi Paulius-st
I had exactly the same idea. I was thinking of the sacrifice scene with the head falling down the stairs of the temple. With maybe a shamen at the top holding the heart and the eclipse just about to happen. Is this n e where near what you were thinking? If it is then i guess i will have to think harder.
Let me know

chunkymonkey - yes, i'm aware of the mouth and there are more areas that need some love :) . this model is just for base mesh. all isues will be fixed in max. just blocking out the forms for the body. i was too lazy to model the body so i sculpted it  .
wargrafix - nailing wertex paint tools in max :xx: .
evilllama - thanks. but this is not over with exprecion. i'll add more details. to show how hard the warior is screaming.
thanks again. updates to come soon.

paulius-st
08-03-2010, 03:41 PM
the mesh is complete and unwraped. now time to go and sculpt this one. thinking to add one more element to the picture - a elf(from witch the heart is riped ) in the other hand of the warior .

Stoneking - thanks mate, its clean but i think i'll edit it later after a contest to be more friendly to animate for my demo real.
wargrafix - thanks :) . thats my main goal to make him as savage and mersyless as i can. i studied the most fiersome faces of ufc fighters and criminals to colect face features i needed.
i couldn't resist not to update some of my sculpting. about an hour or two, dont know for sure

We definitively see in its face that he is ferocious. When you will add teeth (if you add some) it would give that feeling further more.
Not sure about that kind of ears tough, they may take away that credibility.
paulius-st
08-03-2010, 07:20 PM
MightyReg - thanks. i'll add teeth like tigers have, eyes and hair after i will sculpt the body. about the ears maybe you're right - they look too soft for that kind of character but i think i'll stay with what i have. :)

+1 about the ears, maybe erase da ears? Or cut ones?
paulius-st

ok. i'll remove ears :) . what would you sugest to place there insted ears?

I did some research on google about weird ears:
http://www.humpath.com/IMG/jpg/ear_anomaly.jpg
http://newborns.stanford.edu/PhotoGallery/HypoplasticEar1.html
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/12/30/meishan2.jpg
Just suggestions, but can't find some image of a guy's profile who's got its ears pulled out, it could be interesting for mod...
Hopefully we're on an era where surgery can make miracles.

thanks for your time. though two of the images are grose . but got to lovbe the piggies :) thanks. i'll think of something to compensate the ears. allready erased them and allmost done with the torso

wargrafix - thanks. the finer details will come later after posing. just dont know for now whats better- rig and pose in max or transpose i zbrush.
wargrafix
10-03-2010, 02:13 AM
well the question is, which will allow you to achieve whats easier for you. If the model work is what gives you the most stress but can be handled while posed then go for it.
Or zbrush him and then pose.

Hey Paulius!
Nice work so far.
The shot from zbrush looks alright I think. You might want to consider modeling the thumb midway between the downside, and the side-side of the hand, if that makes sense:D Just relax your hand, and see how the thumb is related to the other fingers. Yours on the shot is growing from the side of the palm. We can move the thumb there yes, but that's and unnatural pose.
Good luck with the rest of the work!
paulius-st
10-03-2010, 09:45 PM
thanks wargrafix for the tip and wise words. i think for now i'll use a transpose function in zbrush - its going to be faster.
Cordero - thanks for the tip. i didnt knowtised this issue at that time. i'll fix it when posing.
thanks again guys . more updates to come cheers :)

tarik2d - a brave man torchering his pc :) . i too would want to learn how to do a realistic hair. got a few ideas how to make hair more realistic and to avoid long render times so trying out ideas. :) if this wil turn out great i'll write a short tut how to do it.
wargrafix - could be, but as i saw in my reference pictures of jungle people - they have small ugley teeth :). but this is not final. i may change it if it will be necesary. :)

16-03-2010, 01:19 PM
just a shader test. i'm pretty hapy with it. not perfect but this will do good enough. texture is just for a test of sss shader maps. tried to make a bump map for the skin but zbrush crashes every time i try - too much for my pc to handle a 7th subdivision. as for lighting - a basic 3 point .
as for the hair - it turned out nice but takes time to render. i'll add it when the mesh will be posed.
c&c are welcome.

after zbrush crashing on me for about a milion bilion times i decided to make all the renders in zbrush and composit them all in cs4. i'll try to achive a mood like in movie "300"
heres a few renders from zbrush. say what you think. the posing of the hand is not final. i'll finish it when i'll add a heart in it. a elf hert :)

You forgot to clean up the mesh after posing
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/9981/39052791.jpg
Otherwise the texturing is going very well, keep up
P.S, You dont have to extract bump off Zbrush, just Use decimation master, it will preserve all the skin details with a pretty optimized mesh.
