Uhm, don't want to be harsh...
It doesn't seem you learned anything since your last work (those tanks in the city). There are the same mistakes and it also seems that your modeling is going down. The tank was quite decent, but this airplane... Of course, the shapes are there, but for instance the wings has no thickness and there are some crazy edgeloops.
Also the main problems with your pictures is that it seems there are no lights. You can tell that textures are self-iluminating, so the object lacks of shadows. Adding light, leaving the self illuminating untouched and the render will be at whole new level.
There is tons of thinks you need to learn, so keep up

Again I have to agree with Zlatovous here, it seems exactly the same render wise as the tanks.
So......... your current textures are ok for a start but it's not enough just a to stick a camaoflage map on and call it done, you need to add more than just a map/shader/material to the colour/diffuse channel, you're going to need subtle reflections with possibly blurred reflections, you're going to need bump or normal maps and at the very least a specular map too.
Then set you lights up better, start off with a skylight or a dome sphere and don't worry about adding a sky in there just yet. Then add a light with a tiny amount of orange for a warm light or blue for a cold light and enable shadows you can choose between hard raytraced, soft or area, i'd personally choose area shadows which can bump up the render times a little bit but not too much, also change the shadows intensity to slightly lower than 100% say anything between 70 - 80% will do, this will get your created geometry more definition, more of an actual 3D look and more importantly realism.
Then after some test renders which your happy with add Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion these will intensify the render and also make your overall scene look and be lit much better.
As for the modelling again as Zlatovous has already mentioned with the last artwork you had decent geometry for the tank....but this is poor and just shabby, you desperatly need thickness to the wings, more detailing and slightly higher res geometry in certain areas.
Remember even stylised or cartoon renders would have the same steps that i've gone through, if you need any more help just ask this is what these forums are for, we all learn from each other here. :)

I don't think you should shy away from jets. I think that you should work on them more. I don't suggest shying away from things that are difficult to model. If you did you would never get any better.
My suggestion for the jet is to add some bump mapping. You could make this pretty good by creating a bump that would simulate the metal plates that make up the skin of the jet. That would add a lot of depth to the model.

I agree with the above statements. The geometry on the tank was better. and the textures and lighting needs definite work. Keep t up though.
