I need to learn some animation to make myself more employable, its to long since i lost my last job. Ive got a mini project to do, learn animation and riggin, make my own HDRI's, do some camera matching with the snow creature.

the first on would make great steampunk and tomb fusion.

the second one is looking excellent, but maybe u can take it to a whole new lvl.

try to show it night vision or heat vision, and make the trees around charrred and clawed.
and the guy whose watching ur girl thru night or heat vision also sees a transparent form over ur girls head , its got red eyes and is drooling.

and all the surroubdigs have ancient glyphs engraved.(for example cartoon network series di gata defenders)

thanks guys! I've added the king of kings no the bottom right, the idea is that he is dead, alone in the jungle, not even in the tomb built for him. but y lol, mysterious huh. :haha: need to finish him.

@aby arty: u sure have some imaginative ideas man. If i was able to develop the first idea further i most likely would have implemented your fusion idea!

as for the jungle scene, i think thermal imagery would be cool but it would also negate a lotta detail i think, detail i'd like to try to get into the scene. I might try to do an overlay of thermal vision after i finish the main scene.

as for the other characters in the scene, they on her side! lol i jus figured y raid tombs alone, better to do it with friends, though i like the clawed trees and glyphs ideas which i might try to add as i work on the scene. :evil:

wowser its been a while since i been on here, been somewhat busy over the last two weeks. hadnt even opened the psd! :eek:

thanks for all the comments of support guys, i am most definitely gonna try to finish this, probably will since i think i've sped up a little with my painting. latest update: redid the background as it was all on one layer.....

left the outline but i've basically got the raiders to do then add some lighting to everything, especially the kings remains which also need finishing! :dance:

expect updates to come thick and fast now. maybe.:crazy:

thanks dudes, just a quick update, done some of the character work.

main character is almost done but i dont think theres enough of a sense of tension so i might try repositioning her arms, done a little on midcharacter and nowt on the last guy lol.

Haha cool! i prefer the one with the smallest characters, but this one is better to put the focus on your main character

If you want more tension in your illustration, may be your characters should act like something is happening.
Right now they're just looking around calmly, but if they hear some noise for exemple, they will be more nervous, aiming with their weapons or holding them tightly.
You've got good exemples of tension and skiddish behavior in the "Aliens" movie, it may help

Anyway keep up the good work!

@kzo: this is a good excuse to watch alien ;p although i prefer predator personally alien is a better film overall. better yet i oughta watch both... :smug:

@wargrafix: thanks man, and im glad i put the characters into focus because i think it suits the theme much more than the original sized ones.

anyway just a quick shifty of character poses and added a few tweaks to colour, jus to make it a little more jungly. quite difficult pinning down the lighting but i gotta work on the last character and the king yet so i guess i better not worry too much about it.

nice feel though!! u know what after u lighten up the trees a lil u could through in a predator like invisible form on them with an ankh mark on its fore head .

the tree in the foreground make it brown but covered wth moss or bluish gray wth red stains , and u could add in a owl sitting on some tree who has his eyes set on a rat somewhere or maybe a raven who been spying on ur team, and yaah the raven shud have blood red eyes.

looking awsome just dont keep it too dark make light shine thru the trees in rays.

quick update, jus painted in the characters tonight, plus did the king and tweaked lights and colour again.

thanks for all the comments and crits guys, probably spend some of tmoz tweaking lights and adding little details here and there, probably jungle creatures like millipedes too i think,

im thinking of addin a little depth of field but it kinda takes away detail so i might leave that out.:crazy:

yo, i appreciate the support dudes. anyways this might be the final one, not sure whether its better than the previous or not though. only difference is lighting and its not really a drastic change.

i kinda wanted to add other elemets like shadowy baddies like aby arty suggested but at the same time i didnt wanna infused a supernatural feel to it, rather just a regular thriller kinda thing.

Anyways which do people like better?

I really love this piece, but if this is your final you should give a little more lighting, so that the characters get more depth and it looks more like a final picture....

Hi, you should look if you could get rid of the red " lightrays " than it should be good. We should see what others think, but i think it suits the picture much better.

right now it is looking like tv series lost. the tob raider element is faint in here , and the skull is still going unnoticed .

u knw what u can do make it so that they are entering ruins of some building or structure.

u could change the tree in the forefront to a fallen pillar wth some engravings or glyphs , or mybe a warning sign buried under it.

and there needs to be feeling that the trees are way too tall , and the sunlight is coming thru them in very fine rays , show some part of the ground lit updue to ray falling there. u could use some lens flare as well.

build up the wall on the side too , its looking as if its sort of a lump.

and u could more on here face.

So you prefered that he created another picture :-p I actually like the mood in this picture. The hunters are walking through the forest into a darker part thinking that there is nowone around. They think they can get out of the forest alive, but only we " the viewers " can see that the skull behind the fallen tree. It represents that something is coming. The hunters don't know that yet. So the viewer wants to say " look out!, don't step over that tree " That is what i feel with the picture. I think its pretty good.

@tjerkotten, when u say remove the red rays im uncertain as to whether u mean remove the sunray things completely or move the hue away from the reddish colour thats there now?

@aby arty: yeh some of those suggestions might take a lotta time to implement... although i certainly agree that its not quite tomb-ish. in the outline i did there was some kinda structure on the right which may hav had glyphs and stuff complete but i opted to remove it because it felt just a tad too outta place.

i feel like its pretty complete really as if i added much more it might seem somewhat jumbled. :crazy::dance:

well i never said it was a bad piece , i just said few things can be added.
its always upto you CLP , if u think its feasable go ahead with it if u think theres no time then leave it.

well after tjerkotten put his point of view of forward i think u only need to tweak the lighting a lil and her face is a lil flat.

but if you do wish to change the tree u can copy all layers u used for it and then merge and play with the hue and saturation.

if u want to do a pillar just copy the layers merge and do it flat black then wth large brushess put the color of ur pillar , to make the pillar faster select wth lasso and fill thn clean up the edges.

in the end its upto you.

I think you should remove the rays all together. Keeping the attention on the characters. I don't think we need to see the lightsource in this picture because the characters are so close to camera.

it's also my opinion that a little bit more light is good. but like tjerkotten i think that the rays are not usefull in this case. to me the painting has this wet, dark mood full of suspense and these rays don't fit in here.

but that's just my taste, the picture's still wow!
