quite interesting, though all that vegetation mashing doesn't look natural. Also pay attention to value depth, right now the vegetation is too contrasty for it's distance.

it's really going well !
is it a statue in the foreground ?

17-04-2010, 09:34 AM
yaRa : thanks....
Rievilo : thanks... No, it 's a tree... I haven't put it there yet, it's only rough painting right now. There will be something on the foreground, may be ancient bridge ruins or pilars or else...
I will probably add animal colony down there... but I haven't decided if they are fantasy or real life animals...
Building structures, gate, staircase etc... will be added as soon as I finish the 3d models....
...and the sky may also be replaced because it's not too good right now... :D

It somehow feels like a really lovely miniature set for a movie, with the DOF missing. ^^ Anyway, good painting. Keep it up. :)

This is looking really pretty impressive, I like the column ruins at the front of the image, the mist works pretty well too, there's a pretty nice flow to the image also. Good progress :)

that branche with the flower in front of the camera is dead on. It creates the depth this picture needed. Its not mystic, but it looks cool.

http://i448.photobucket.com/albums/qq208/rofiqalfata/feathered_serpent.jpg

Love those ruins....was wondering if they were models or images for your composition, they work really well in the scene, thanks for sharing :)
rofiqalfata
29-04-2010, 08:25 AM
@ chunkymunky : thanks... sometimes, it's really hard to find images that fit the perspective view and light direction...so i have to make some models. it's faster and safer this way... :D
and i think my mattepainting should be this way because if i want to animate this scene, i want the camera move from the sky to the bottom of the abyss, downward... this is why i make portrait layout not landscape...
sorry i have to catch the deadline first and then i'll post all breakdown images..., is it ok? i hope i can post them before the deadline too...

your image looks stunning!! I prefer without the dragon..but this is only my personal opinion :)..good work!!

29-04-2010, 07:26 PM
Really nice image you've got there!
Looks like you used vector motion blur on the dragon, I'd suggest to get some "real" one out XSI (I suppose ;) ).
With the dragon it now finally looks like a built miniature to me. ^^
tjerkotten
29-04-2010, 07:30 PM
I think the dragon is not in its place in the picture. Not in the middle of the picture. Its much better without it..
rofiqalfata
30-04-2010, 05:03 AM
well, nobody likes my dragon... :D so i removed the dragon and replaced it with monkeys...
here is the final image...

the monkey is awsome
2BIG3k
30-04-2010, 09:05 AM
Yes, they also really help the sense of scale.
It's true that with the dragon the image seems a miniature. The monkeys work much better. Cool work.
+1 for monkeys
As I said before, the work is mega. Final image is realy cool.

Good work !
the lights, monkeys... cool !
the 3d bridges are great but be carefull with the repetitions in details (broken stones)
Maybe put some vegetation on the bridges, if they are broken it's because they old and not used...
excellent work !!!!
chunkymunky
30-04-2010, 05:05 PM
Superb image.....and have to agree the addition of the monkeys works much better. Well done a really great final image :)

30-04-2010, 05:49 PM
thanks for the comments and critics everyone... yes, the dragon is bad  i'll try better next time :D monkeys work better...
Riviello : i cloned the ruins but i thought i already eliminated the repetition by overlaying dirt texture. the texture doesn't repeat but i didn't realize it that the models repeat... :wall: thanks for the critics...
i already submitted the final image, so... good luck everyone! once again, thank you so much...
