Well, back with Lego! I simply can't not use it for the SMCs apparently.
For this one I was planning on building this polar base. (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6575-1) I'll change the color scheme for more jungle colors (green, darker grey etc) and I'll topple some bricks, throw some stuff on the ground and overall give it a look and feel that it's been deserted for quite some time.
I'm still deciding whether to make an environment with Vue and see how that works out, or just throwing a lot of Lego palm trees and bushes in there along with some rock formations.
Also, should I include making the environment in the modelling time?
This is after 40 minutes.

Another 40 minutes. After this it should go a little bit faster since now it's a lot of copy and paste bricks.

This is an interesting idea. I'll like to see how you make it into a jungle scene. Kind of reminds me of one of the bases from lost.

Except for some small details, this part of the base is done. Another 45 minutes for the clock.
Also, been experimenting a bit with the VrayDirt textures.

Thanks. I love modelling them, so that's convenient :p

And another 60 minutes, leaving me with 55 minutes to make the com array and if I have time the helicopter and the tracked vehicle.
Oh yeah, if I make my surrounding in Vue, should I include that in the modelling time or not?

You and your lego man ;).
Looking good. A scene in vue to this could turn out ace :D

Thanks everybody.
Well, I used my remaining 55 minutes to get this thing together, so now I gotta think of something for the beauty render.

And here's a little sneak preview of the final shot:

I call it done. Spend all 240 minutes. Made it with 3dsMax 8 and rendered with VRay.

Haha :) Great final, the little vehicle looks ace (nice shader on the glass too...)

Thanks.
And VRay will do that for you (the shader part I mean) ;)

Never actually used VRay ;(. So far just Mental ray...

It's pretty cool. Especially the displacement. You don't need to actually have a gazillion vertices on a plane for a displacement map in VRay to work, the renderer makes it look good even with 1 face.

Cool :). But doesn't mental ray do that as well? I know that Wayne did a render with the new mudbox displacement on a a single plane.

I have no idea actually. I don't use Mental Ray that much.
