I was reading somewhere that you should learn spline modelling before polygon modelling, in that is so different and hard to transition. But from what i've done, it wasn't that hard at all, or different in a sorts. Can anyone clarify what would be wierd with it.
hmmm that's a weird statement. I think that how easily you can transition from one type of modeling to another really depends on 2 factors, the first is how well you 'see' in 3 dimensions and the second factor would be how you learn. By how you learn I mean do you learn by seeing? doing? hearing? or a combination. And how quickly you can apply the new knowledge. I never had a problem transitioning between these two types of modeling.
How I learned:
1. Box modeling
2. Then I was introduced to splines/patches
3. Now I use a combination of box modeling and building poly by poly.

Ah okay. Yah, I was just a little confused with this, but I guess their could be some people that have problems with it. It could of also been the program they were referring to, but don't remember what it was. All I know is it was an article about where to start, what to learn, and what programs are good.
Yeah I think it really just depends. Some people have an easier time with splines and some with polys.
