Photographed this one near the racecourses by us in Worcester, I tried to get all angles, side and close-ups for details and textures.
The limits for this week are 2,000 tris and 1024 texture sheet - any textures are cool, normals, specs etc to make it look as near to the photo as possible! As this is how they will be judged

Please post your wire, clay, texture sheets and final render in this thread, wip and on topic chat is also fine here too, these challenges are supposed to be fun and we are not too strict on the rules. Just posting some early wip shots to remind myself to keep doing this.
First real model in Blender :) It's quite hard to adjust to Blender from 3D Max but it is quite fun as well :D
Btw, do anyone know how I can check my tri count in Blender?

@ "work", laptop cant really handle max2010 or cs4, so i cant do much. might aswell try and make a container :)

ok, progress shot.
model is pretty much done. just realized i forgot the thingy on top of it. not sure what it is.
gonna optimize it, should shave off another 100 tri's or so.

:O why would go from max to blender?! That is crazy talk. lol
Just to broaden my horizons so to say, lol. I wanna learn to use as many programs as I can, Blender being one of them.
Also, Blender has some really great features.

dont forget the one in the photo is uneven pretty beaten up and the challenge is to get it as close as possible.

kinda hard to see on the pictures. it look like some of the panels of this thing are bulging out. are they, or is it just me?

Here's an update on my dumpster. Finally got it under 2,000 tris.
1996 tris with Normal+AO maps.

Hey hey everyone, nice new challenge! perfect for a few hours play :)
Great stuff from the work so far
here's a quick pic of the one I am trying to create. I want to keep the pixel density high so I am going to need to tile the diffuse a fair bit.. So I have decided to use a portion of my texture sheet (256x1024) as a colour overlay on UV channel 2 to get some nice lighting info in there.
at 1855 tri's and this is a flat render of the mesh with the lower res light bake on it.

Hi everyone! So here is my entry for this challenge. Dumpster modeled in Maya, detailed in Zbrush, textured in Photoshop, and rendered in Unreal Engine. 1,996 tris with 1024x1024 DIF/NOR/SPEC textures. Thanks and GL to everyone.

I think that Arsenal will be a strong winner this week :)
My entry has been moving much slower than I would have liked (thanks to school exams and such) I still hope to get it finished before the deadline though.

havent had time to do much of anything last week.
next week i'll be in rome, so no 3d at all.
