this is a enviroment painting/design for one of my classes. We had to redesign a character, vehicle and enviroment for a movie. So my group pick pitch black but we made it take place in the mid to late 1400's. So instead of a planet it was a volcanic island and instead of a space ship it was a cargo ship and so on. I'm gonna see if I can get a copy of the other things.

The alien doesn't really look like the things from Pitch Black. I remember them having a big bone "wing" going across their heads. I guess my problem is really with the head because they did have bodies similar to that.

Are they just going to be cave monsters that only come out at night? Or is it going to be that the volcano spews out ash and blocks the sun allowing them to hunt freely?

redesign for the creature on a island on earth in the 1400's.. if oyu look at the creature.. it's story is that it's a creature that lives in the dark.. well we had it so that is lives in the dark and a volcano goes boom and the sky goes dark but this onl;y happens ever 10 years or so.. soooo.. we gave it tenticals on the front so it can feel around and eat the sulfer ( I think thats how you spell it) I mean.. no animal can go 10 years without food.. and volcanic islands have plenty of it.. and it's the bad guy.. so it's ugly.. you can't tell me if that thing what in front of you you wouldn't be a little scared or creeped out.. and it's in the dark so it has lite skin.. so on.. anyways wasn't my design.. heh.. so there you go.. pull it apart!

so i heard... my brother said the only cool thing in the movie was the main characters eyes
