Hi everyone
I'm fairly new to hardsurface modeling and perhaps there are many things I have wrong with this one.
This is a gun I'm modeling for a character of my new demoreel. It's an original design inspired in real world weapons as well some sci-fi ones.
I wanted to create the most detailed weapon possible, that looked futuristic while maintining a sense of reality.
I'd like to know what you think of the modeling before I UV and texture it.
Looking forward to you guys helping me bringing this to next level.
many thanks

Fabio, that is Fabiolous.... ahem.
Very nice work, but as always, the texture is key. I will keep a beady eye on this potential hot pick!

might be mistaken, but it apears you have some messy topo on the left-bottom close-up, looks great though

really cool, the only thing i see is that the mesh looks a little warped in some places.

I like the design and modeling looks solid, but you have a lot of nasty pinches and bumps in a lot of places. Put some specularity on your model, find them, fix them. Sorry I can't make an overpaint, since I am not at home
Plus, I just noticed, the bullet size vary, which is not good :-)

Holy shish kabob, batman, that looks cool! I don't know whether I'd be able to stand working with the topology, though. There are a lot of funky n-gons in there that are causing bumps 'n' lumps. Still, it looks badass.

Apart from the pinching you tackled this really well.
Do one last polish up, but the wireframe is great, just the right density.

Apart from the pinching, yeah, but there's a lot of pinching.

I agree about the pinching area but the rest of this gun is outstanding, really good wireframes :)

hi again people, thanks all for the c&C
ive been working a bit more on the submachine gun, fixed a bit of the topology but i confess a bit of it is still "not evened"(i wouldnt say messy but...)
here's the texturing on bodypaint 3d renderer..kinda sux to be honest...
i wonder if it will look better when i bring it to max or maya..surely hope so.
right now the texture is a bit "generic" since its mirrored on both sides. ill have to make sure the other side doesnt look equal and perhaps add something to the back part of the gun the soldier would have but personal in it.(i had an anime girl! but every single of my friend who saw it complained about it ;) )
feel free to c&C on the texture wip
many thanks!

Hey man I think it is looking pretty good. I really don't think that render is doing it justice though. Is this the lowpoly? If so how many tris? I was going to say maybe try getting it into a realtime shader... If you are using max here are a couple that are really worth taking the time to learn.

Need better lighting for sure, but loving the textures :)

There are some bumps in the mesh that need sorting out.

thnks everyone . really glad u guys like it
here's an actual render from max. no fancy lighting. just 2 lights and some hdr. materials havent been that weaked yet. just looking at it and seeing how textures look. no bump or spec maps yet. and yeah, there's a lot of stretching errorsfrom the new projection that i still have to fix(bodypaint and photoshop are getting really slow tho, its really frustrating to work on this)
