planning on doing a sort of side view of the fleet with the black pearl in front heading towards an icy landscape (Hoth) where a battle is about to start.
I have a few other ideas, ill get them down on paper and post up soon.
I have my GCSE exams along with this challenge so I may not get much progress down with this. :(

Im planning on having this sort of sea ice across the plane of water, the sky depicted in this image is also what im wanting to achieve.

That is a superb photo.
Ill have to go searching for images for this landscape.

Last year I was lucky enough to see the tall ships in Belfast and took a few pictures of the sails and also "The Bounty" which incidentally is the ship they used as the black pearl.

I will add star wars in as well.
I'm going to have to watch it to refresh myself of what has happened and what hasn't.

I have composited the basic 3D shape of the whirlpool, now to foam it up and add viscosity.

Make it look like the ice is breaking close to the tempest :). And perhaps some chunk of ice whirling around... (like I see you are beginning to do...)

This is probably the last update of the actual matte painting and I will add the ships in the style of the star wars armies.
I hope I can get these drawn in time, I am cutting this close.
