First off the phonebooth doesn't match in proportion-wise at all right now... It is a fifth of the golden gate bridge right now...

Otherwise good to see how the scenes comes together :;)

Much better :).
Perhaps a tad to many intersecting edges to the upper right corner of that lower window... Since you don't really have to care about the number of polys all that much you could divide the loops there to smooth it out a bit...

I really love the composition for your scene, it works for me.
don't know much about helicopters, but your last update looks better then the first try, so you are definitely improving :D

keep it up, i would like to see this one finished.

@halahuga: actually i rendered wire on low res model and then overlapped it on the high res....so its looking like overlapped edges...am i right? :???:

Look at the latest render. The window in the lower left corner... To its top right there are about 7 edges all going to the same vertex...

Nah I was talkin about the crease that appeared in the division between high and low poly on the tail... You have a lot of edgeloops coming in and only like half of them afterwards...

Aiiiiii... main rotor - helicopter crashing into position like you have it (case of Wolcotts helicopter from the film) would shatter its main rotor to pieces. You need to level it to position of Durands helicopter or destroy the rotor :)

But very nice otherwise :)

Edit: While at it... ram the landing gear into the fuselage. Its not designed for crash landing and woudl be destroyed in any case.
Edit edit: Maybe remove the pilots door. They dont have those in the film if I remember propery. It makes sense. You can leave the helicopter faster and there is no risk of jamming in case of accident.

Edit edit edit off topic: Did you notice that in the film all the pilots are in the wrong seat? :D

That looks great, but what i think you could do with the blackhawk is to break off the blades. Like what happend in the movie.

Other than that it is looking really good.

@JAPO: i just placed the chopper there...damage is to be done..this is nothing but the combined mesh of the chopper.....

Off-topic: the movie contained more than 5 factual errors as one of them is..when the walcott's bird hits the ground its blades strike more than 4 times to the ground and still 2 were left intact when the crash finished :P

Those blades did actually cut through the ground. Those were made of TIE Fighter alloy acquired from one that crash landed in Nevada... is that CIA at my door? :D

Its nice picture anyways. I dont think I would dare doing Black hawk. Must be because my modelling of vehicles is exhausted from work.

i modeled it(Blackhawk) but now i feel that texturing and unwrapping is going to be real pain!!! :(
you have any idea about some unwrapping plug-ins?....
Roadkill kills my files and crashes maya :P

I find Unwrella useful - www.unwrella.com

The trial is for 30 uses, not 30 days. Be careful you dont accidentaly save it in some important scene as it could end up locked (guess how I know that :D) . Got full version now.

hehe I did not lose anything. I liked the plugin from seeing it, I loved it when trying it, so I got the full version in the end. It only caught me by surprise when scenes I used it in locked when the trial expired. I have nearly reinstalled my PC before I realised its just some scenes. :D

It locks only scenes where it is used, not entire Maya.

edit: hopefuly. I am Max user :)

gauravcg: i wouldn't recommend unwrella unless you are already familiar, and "pro" in uvw mapping. relying too much on plug-ins can cause you trouble later on.

you should do it the traditional way: start uvwing by hand, you will see its much faster then it looks for first glance.

Relying on plugins can backfire that is true.

I do not have the plugin for long, so I havent put it to really serious use yet, but I intend to do so very soon. I am aware it is not allmighty solution and I will have to interfere, but it has been useful already on objects where I did not need so much control over the material. On those it has been a real time saver.

But like I said... real challenge still awaits :)

Hehe true :D And I love it for the simplicity as I do not have the time to unwrap everything by hand (not mentioning this and rigging are the least popular in my books - I can do it for living, but I do not like spending evenings with it). I just need to find where I cant use it.

I'm not sure about the scale of the bump, right now it looks like giant dust pieces all over the place.
If they are supposed to be stones, tweak the colors a bit, and if not, increase the tiling, and it should be fine.
