Yes! After going months of not having a computer, I can finally get back into the 3Dtotal competitions. And it looks like I've come back at just the right time, this sounds like a great theme!
So I don't know if this mash-up is going to work out for me, but for me the idea of doing a "movie mashup" is to try to pick two themes that are going to compliment and inform each other.
Chris Landreth's short film "Ryan" (if you haven't seen it, check it out here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvfgLBMmtVs). One of the most original animated shorts you'll see) was filled with characters who's broken and incomplete personalities were also represented by their physical character as well. I think combining this look with Mickey Rourke's character from The Wrestler is a perfect fit.
Never tried to achieve a look like this, so it might not work out, but should be a lot of fun to try!
