Hi all!
Finally, a challenge:) Its going to be interesting, there are a lot of great ideas already!
I think i'll mix the mood of the movie called "The Book of Eli" with a character from Snatch, called Mickey.
Mickey will be standing in a post apocalyptic environment, possibly outside of a town, i'm not sure yet.
He will be half naked, and he will have some of Eli's equipment on him. There will be also a crashed car in the background :)
I'm planing on making a very wide picture, like 1000 x 400 or something.
Since my tablet is not working at the moment, i think i'll jump right in to the modeling, and you will get the idea of the final composition as i work.
Good luck to all!

;) the theme of the challenge is very interesting but I'm in a phase where I'm not feeling ... and a white hole art right now! I'd rather watch and encourage the participants!

Thanks xxxcubanxxx i wont disappoint you!:D
hulahuga: yeah, the film has some great potential in mood i think. I really like this kind of post apocalyptic thingys :D
gauravcg definitely check out that film! The action, and the mood is really awesome!
shape of things to come... :D
The highwayman from fallout game, which could really fit in to this post apocalyptic universe. It wont have any wheels, it will be crashed on the side of the road, on the left side of the picture. (of course i'll model some kind of metal thingy where the wheels supposed to be :D)
The motor will be more detailed, and i'll clean up the mesh here and there. Right now, its 4624 tris, which in my opinion is ridiculously high at this stage.
Now, that i found my HD quality version of Snatch on the shelf, i can actually capture far better pictures for reference.
I'll start Mickey tomorrow, and rest the car for a bit.

hey all, little update.
This is most likely the final version of the car. I'll add an exhaust pipe, since i noticed just now, that its missing :D
and there is the lowpoly mesh for mickey. I added a watch, and rings, all of them needs to be more detailed.
He will have a belt, and the book, and the sword i mentioned earlier.
I'm still not sure about the background, but i better start thinking...
crits would be helpful now :D

Hmm you going realistic or stylized would be the first question...

hulahuga: The goal would be something like the picture below. In addition, Mickey will stand on the right side of the image, holding the blade, and the book in a cool stance:D (the car would be around that position like in the picture)
gauravcg: Thanks!
Tarik2d: I'm glad you like it!
i'm trying to go for realistic look. We will see how it goes :D a lot depends on how i can model brad pitt's face.. :D

KK. Because right now the blocky style could actually be pretty cool :). But if you want to go realistic be my guest :D

hulahuga: need to practice some realistic stuff too :D
slow progress, since i move back and forth... redid the watch, i think i'll leave the rest of the job to the normal maps. i deleted the rings, i'm gonna do a better ones. Also deleted the pants, and the boots, because they were ugly, and unrealistic :D
added the head, and modified the hat a little.
And there is a MAJOR anatomical screw up in the shoulder area, which i should fix before moving on to texturing.
I think i'm gonna model the book, it looks fun :D
i hope you like it!
edit: and i need to remove some fat from Mickey :D

not sure which facial expression to go with in the final composition... These are all good, but i think that the first, and the last are the best for the feeling i'm going for.
i think i'll throw together the final scene, to see if i can manage to create the background :D

Thanks Tarik!
there might be a major misunderstanding, since i thought mashup means that i pick one character, and place in to an other movies environment :D so i picked mickey from Snatch, and i'll place him in the world of Eli.
but it seems that i should have made a scene from Snatch, in the style of Eli... but it doesn't matter now, i'll finish this piece, and the next entry will be something along the lines of one scene from a movie, in the style of another one..
(of course, its my fault :D i should learn to read... :D)

I would worry, I read the whole thing as mash two films together how ever u want. I'm not even putting mine in a scene just doing the design
Cordero

Oh nice then!:D
speaking of the scene... this is what i have in mind. the sword and the book is not on the picture right now, since i'll add them after i pose Mickey in to position. I'm gonna finish the pants, and i'll star sculpting Mickey, and texturing him up.
(there will be some buildings in the background, rocks and stuff all around the ground, patches of grass, and i'll trash the car a bit :D)
still not sure what i'll do whit his hair.

cuban: I better hurry up then:D
started the whole chest piece all over again with the sculpting. right now its a bit too "anatomical" i'll tone it down, so it could be more realistic:D just wanted to place muscles here and there.
the base mash had some errors, but next time there wont be this kind of problems hopefully.. :D

started to organize the different pieces together. It is so annoying to jump between max 2009 and 2010 back and forth, that i can't describe it...
