I saw this this morning as from what i've found out about it, it's a remake proposal for Warner Bros, they've tried to completely remake the franchise and actually it look pretty cool. Having the tournament made up of serial killers, assasins and the like make more sense in a "real world" environment opposed to the outer realm other world MK originally had.

This new take on the MK serie looks great, sure have a darker feel to it. I feel that 8 min clip was better then the 2 previous films combined. Could be interesting if it could be made into an actual movie. Altough I am really not sure about Baraka and Reptile.
And why, why did they have to kill Johnny Cage :(

Filming and all looks ace but the plot seems a bit B to be honest. Oh well, if it becomes as great as the other games I'll still be happy :D

The setup seems to turn into a movie, but if it is a game it might get wicked if the devs do it good :smug:
Let's hope they do... ;)
all i know is that i got chilsl when i watched this! Mortal kombat will always have a place in my heart!
I really like the re invented storyline!

Apparantly Jeri Ryan...the woman who plays Sonya Blade has confirmed on her twitter account that this is a proposal for a re-invention of the MK films for Warner Bros :) If it went ahead it could really be a nice new twist on the old MK history.
The original movies were ok if you're bored on a Sunday afternoon, although I do remember when I first watch MK I was stoked to see Goro, he'd be totaly CG now :)
As a Mortal Kombat fan I really disliked this trailer and the change of story.
Baraka that looks like some afro-american reggae singer?
(don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against black people, it's just not the Baraka. I would also complain if they put some Chinese or white man instead of Jackson).
Then we find out that the Sub-Zero (or Scorpion wraith) work for CIA?
Crap!
Sonya looks very hot, I've got to admit that. :)
I agreed that the plot (storyline) can be changed in order to create some better story. But this is changing from better to (much) worse in my opinion.
Old-school rules!

Wow good news man :D.
Haha looks cool :). Not as high graphics as say the latest Tekken but it looks good either way :D.
How far have you come in the development?? (If you can say that) and does it have an official release date yet??
MightyReg

For the release date they said early 2011 I think
For the rest I am kept to silence :D I am only working in the cinematic departement, doing the layout of the scenes. (still good for a first job in 3D tough :) )
Don't know how far they are in the game development.

Are you cooperating with the film team in any ways btw??

I am not cooperating with the film team at all, the trailer that appeared 2 days ago was also a complete surprise for me!

That looks a lot like the graphics in the new game actually :D.
I'm not all that familiar with the actual lore of MK but why is sub-zero "good" in this cinematic, wasn't he one of the bad guys???

Thanks, but I didn't work on the trailer. The first 6 shots in Hi-Res were done by my studio tough.
The cinematics I work on are for the in-game story mode, and as the creators said, it's probably going to be the deepest story mode in a fighting game ever.
Hmm

There are actually two Sub-Zero (2 brothers)
The first one is evil, he killed all of Scorpion's family and after he get killed by Scorpion in Mortal Kombat 1 he becomes Noob Saibot.
The second his the good Sub-Zero
Hmm

Sub-Zero from the Mortal Kombat 1 wasn't bad or good, he was just cold blood assassin from the Lin Kuei clan that ordered Shang Tsung murder.
He was evil in terms that he never had mercy for anyone. Long time ago he killed Scorpion and his family, and Scorpion also came to the tournament (as a wraith) to take his revenge and kill Sub-Zero.
Sub-Zero get murdered though, and in Mortal KOmbat 2 his younger brother takes it's place. Scorpion joins the tornament again thinking that it is real (older) Sub-Zero, but he was witness when young Sub-Zero spared the life of his oponent. He realised that it's not the same Sub-Zero, and from that time he starts to protect him.
That's just Mortal Kombat 1 and 2, later... the plot goes into a more twists.

As I remember it Sub Zero was bad and turned good.....I could be wrong though. I know his arch nemesis Scorpion, was always portrayed as a bad guy. Looks pretty cool to me.
EDIT - Oh thanks for the info bobi, that's all cleared up..... a little bit lol :)

Mortal Kombat was such a cool game, I remember playing it to death on the arcades at my local youth club. I loved the gore and the fatalities nothing was cooler back then lol. Wow those arcades had alot of my pocket money lol :)

Ah good old Mortal Kombat.....now this and Street Fighter was my childhood! Going on holiday and heading straight for Street Fighter and then challenging mates to a battle on MK, I always liked to play Lui Kang and my mate loved to play Scorpion and he'd just keep doing the "Get Over Here" move until i'd block him and fireball him back lol. He was the same with Street Fighter he choose Chun Li, E Honda or Blanka and repeatdly press the buttons in a frenzy lol......I nearly always won though.
The good old coin-op's were 20-50p a game, I even remember playing the first Street Fighter Arcarde Machine with a red haired Ryu! But when MK came out it looked so cool to us to see real people fighting it looked amazing back then, kinda like how the Assasin's Creed 2 trailer has been making us all feel........lol give it 10-20 years and we'll think AC2 was poor graphics like the old MK looks now lol.
