View Full Version : Movie Mashup - Wallace and Gromit and The Seventh Seal - Dront
10-06-2010, 01:43 PM
For this challange I´ve decided to take the flagship of Swedish cinema and mash it Aardman style.
Det sjunde inseglet, a 1957 Swedish drama film directed by Ingmar Bergman.
Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit a 2005 clay stop motion animated film directed by Nick Park and Steve Box.
Even though there isn´t much time left for this challange I just had to join in I´ll do my best to finish in time :haha:
10-06-2010, 03:10 PM
Hmm undra hur du ska göra det här... Sjunde inseglet i lera.... LOL! ;P
10-06-2010, 03:25 PM
That´s exactly what I had in mind :smug:
10-06-2010, 03:56 PM
(om jag nu måste byta till engelska ;))---> keep us updated :D
11-06-2010, 05:38 PM
Here is the first update on the charackters, Wallace as Death and Gromit as the knight.
11-06-2010, 05:43 PM
Why did you flatten the poor guy's face?
11-06-2010, 06:00 PM
Hehe oops:haha: I think I might have smushed his face a bit when i posed him, the poor lighting doesn´t help much either. Ah well it´s easy too fix.
11-06-2010, 06:04 PM
glad to hear that :D
other then that, i looks pretty cool! but i think some of the proportions are different from the picture to the right you posted first. I don't know if its intentional or not.
12-06-2010, 06:49 AM
NIce work on the charcater (except that they're flat). Waiting for the next update.
12-06-2010, 09:23 AM
Wow apart from being flat they look really adorable :) Great likeness and great progress. Keep going
12-06-2010, 11:50 AM
Oh yeah the modelling is nearly perfect....have to agree about the flatness, but still really cool :)
12-06-2010, 04:48 PM
Hi guys thx for the comments and the feedback I appreciate it :)
Here´s another character update, if you see any more flat spots let me know ;)
12-06-2010, 07:30 PM
really great stuff! :D
one thing i noticed: the legs of the dog is kind of weird. on the picture you first posted, the legs of the dog grows from the end of his "body".
And on the picture you linked, the legs seems to be growing from around the half of the body. If he is sitting (it seems to me that he is sitting) then somehow you should explain that.
or maybe its just the point of view, and the legs are bent :D
anyways, great style, keep it up!
12-06-2010, 07:55 PM
Ah, really great subject and it looks like you captured the characters really well. My only crit would be to give a bit more of a dynamic line in the right side of the cape, given that he's got a good amount of it held in his hand. Holding the cape up like that should be pulling the bottom of the cape up into a more diagonal line than it is now.
Cool work so far though!

Thx for the input guys, Cordero your right about the legs I´ll look in to it :) as for the cape I havent started sculpting on it yet but I will fix the angle.
I have allot of work to do tomorrow before the deadline of the comp, ill post more updates tomorrow
13-06-2010, 10:45 PM
i don't mean to disappoint you, but the deadline of the challenge is July 15th, which is a month from today. So you have plenty of time to work on these fellas :D
looking forward on your updates !
14-06-2010, 08:26 AM
Haha Wow I have got to stop skimming through the challenge instructions :haha:
Good news though ;)
14-06-2010, 11:56 AM
Yeah would hate to have not seen this one progress further as you've got a superb start on a great theme :)
17-06-2010, 03:26 PM
Thank´s chunkymunky
Here´s an update on Gromit been sculpting on him trying to get a nice clay feeling, let me now if i´m close.
17-06-2010, 03:36 PM
ya its close but not exactly....may be some noise will do it!!! :P
18-06-2010, 07:19 AM
Really nice gromit but I agree with gauravcg there isn't yet a real clay feeling.
18-06-2010, 02:21 PM
Yeah not quite the clay feeling there yet but still a superb sculpt :) Loving it!
24-06-2010, 10:32 AM

01-07-2010, 06:16 PM
cool characters )
01-07-2010, 08:18 PM
Thanks eicronie :)
Tarik2d I will start texturing them soon, there are just some minor details I want to look over first.
01-07-2010, 10:13 PM
NIce work on those characters, good luck for the textures.
06-07-2010, 04:51 PM
Here´s the first update on the textures:
It has been tough getting the textures to feel right when you only have black and white and different shades grey to work with:)
06-07-2010, 05:21 PM
Really nice, but I think you shold add different greys to Wallace's textures.
07-07-2010, 08:14 AM
Is there a particular part of Wallace you want me to change, skin tones or the robe :???:
07-07-2010, 08:23 AM
cool mashup, cool characters, cool film! :) good job!
08-07-2010, 03:26 PM
Here is the first update on the props.
In the Seventh Seal when the knight first meet death he challenge´s him to a game of chess. Since it´s such an important part of the movie, the chess game has to be a part of the scene. I´ve made it a little cartoony to fit in with the Aardman style. :)

08-07-2010, 06:02 PM
it is funny
08-07-2010, 06:16 PM

09-07-2010, 02:17 PM

Another update on chess game, sculpted and textured.

16-07-2010, 03:17 PM
